i agree on the above cirque shows have lost thier appeal, would like to see absinthe
have always felt avenue q would do very good in new york new york, am supprised no one has thought of that as its a cracking musical and perfect for vegas!

Avenue Q was at Wynn for a short run. I think we saw it in 2006, but walked out after about 40 mins as hubby hated it.

We also walked out of Spamalot in the same theatre as that was a crock and it was absolutely freezing there.

Although we have seen most, but not all, of the Cirque shows, they do nothing for me. Yes it is very clever what they can do, but they leave me cold. That said, I have been thinking about seeing Ka as that is one we haven't seen.

Jersey Boys was excellent when we saw it, the day after the official opening. However reviews weren't so good a while later when they changed the cast.

We have almost run out of shows to see, of the ones we want to see, as we were going to 6 or 7 shows per trip for a while.

    Neither did Spamalot

We saw both Avenue Q and Spamalot when they were at the Wynn. Really enjoyed both, but Avenue Q was particularly brilliant. Might have been the ticket price that pushed it out of reach for people, was about $99 for Avenue Q, I'm thinking Spamalot may have been a little bit cheaper but can't quite remember.

You should be able to get return flights for £550-£600 (indirect) if you look around. Direct probably more like £800.

It's good that you have a bit of flexibility with your dates, you should be able to get a decent deal.

Hotels will be cheap in general, depends where you want to stay obviously. Rates for Friday and Saturday nights are much higher, so if you want to keep costs down it might be an idea staying from the Sunday to the Thursday or the Monday to the Friday. If there's two sharing a room you could probably get somewhere quality for about $30-$50 pppn.

Thanks for the advice Rory, I was thinking maybe Monday - Thurs.

Is halloween as big in vegas as other places? GF loves ween and would make it special for her? Any events over ween time we should look out for etc?

Best site for searching flights? skyscanner is all i know really?!

I've search on Kayak and cheapest flights are out of london at £700 with 2 stops?!

Some flights require that you stay a Saturday night to get a cheaper fare. The down side of that is that room rates in Vegas as typically double on Fri and Sat than they are the rest of the week.

You can set up to receive fare alerts from Kayak to be emailed to you daily or weekly so that you can monitor prices. However that seems to be glitchy at the moment as it is showing the best fare for my flights next year, with one stop in LHR, as £5850 each! However when you click through the price is much lower.

They have "improved" the email format and it is giving me silly prices too. sometimes high and other times low. I hope they sort it out soon.

We are going to fly out on the 26th Oct (saturday) and come back on the 1st Nov (friday) then we can part halloween :D

Flights are coming out at £683 with 1 stop from Birmingham or London (same price)

Thats about the price it seems we are going to get, is it worth holding off until Jan sales to see if they drop in price?
Should we wait to book a hotel until closer to the time as i would imagine flights are the main thing really?

Yes there will be some sort of deal before you go. I usually look about 2 months before, but if a deal comes along that you are happy with and it goes direct with the hotel you can book it with one nights deposit which you can cancel and get back if it is done usually 3 days before you are due to check-in.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • HOTELS
The Orleans - Can somebody tell me please whether there are any good rooms/floors to ask for at check in. Looking at the enormous difference in price between a double and a suite I assume its not worth even contemplating trying for an upgrade with $20/$50. Anyway we're there for over a week at Xmas so they'll be busy anyway. TIA
