This is probably aimed more at the older members of the forum (65+) I'm in my early 70's
We have been going to LV for the past 15 years and have noticed that for me I seem to suffer from a loss of appetite and sometimes nausea type feeling after meals, also burst bood vessel in the nose, this happens each visit now. Its not bad enough to say that its time to quit, but more an annoyance than anything else. My wife is not affected. As soon as we are on the plane returning home all becomes normal again, The only factor I can come up with is that it may have something to do with the altitude 2100ft I know this is probably clutching at straws, but the only logical thing I can come up with. This has only really become noticeable in the past 4 years, We also travel to Florida frequently, and find no ill effects at all. So I have ruled out the long haul part of it.I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has suffered similar symptons. Perhaps its the hazards of getting older!!!
I will add, that we still enjoy the holiday.

The dry air will probably be affecting your nasal passages. Get a saline nasal spray and use it regularly. Not sure about the appetite problem. My SO is in his 70's and the spray does the trick for him.

I've heard lots of stories about people (of all ages, so definitely not an age thing!) suffering from horrendous nosebleeds in Vegas. As Pebbles says, nasal sprays are recommended to help with it.

  • Probably just me but I have a lot of electric shocks, I'm wary of touching door handles, car doors, moving walkway handrails etc.
I always open by the glass rather than the handles.

the air conditioning and general dryness in the area affects a lot of people - we also find the saline nasal spray helps.

static shocks too are really common for some people - my hubby way more than me.

I also think that so much of the food we eat in Vegas is so much richer than what we eat normally that it can affect us...plus I think that eating on a plane and just sitting there for hours never does good things to one's tummy.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

The static is due to the generally low humidity. The only place I've ever been that was worse than Las Vegas was Denver. I lived there for a short time, and shopping was a nightmare! I got shocks off the shopping trolleys, freezers, just about everything.

I always have a poor appetite for a few days after long haul so we plans any nice meals for the end of the first week or into the second week.

Hubby used to have big problems with static shocks, but it happened less with each trip. However that doesn't stop him open doors by pushing the glass rather than the metal handle.

It seems as though Stoneman jr. had a good time! As a young man if your bedside table doesn't look like this then you ain't grasped Vegas by the throat.:o;):D:cool:

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
