VALUE FOR MONEYWe have done the Buffet of Buffets about 2 years ago - it was about $30 plus tax then. At $50 plus tax we didn't bother this time round (2 weeks ago). We felt that the queues for the centre strip buffets are so huge that it would put you off bothering.
We wouldn't even have been thinking about it but hubby is platinum on TR so normally we can skip the main queue (probably the only real benefit of being platinum for us - and really worth it)...agree with you and those who have raised the queuing issue though...when they first started it it would have been a no-brainer price-wise but it isn't anymore, not really...we've already used our PH and Paris $10 vouchers from LVA...but you can get a $5 PH voucher online at destinationcoupons.com...so starts to eat away at any potential savings on the BOB offer.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thanks! I'd forgotten to go see if they had new ones up...the MSS buffet is one we've been to a couple of times and quite liked - for the price it's great value.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
i can say that i jumped off the Strat last year for $99
And that outside, is a massive cheapo store!
Thats about it though...0 -

I've never stayed there as location is terrible, (I tend to drop in on my way Downtown) so I can't comment on the rooms, but...
The rides at the top are great! As is the 107 bar - fantastic views over Vegas without having to pay the fee to go to the observation deck above. Having the Top of The World Restaurant revolving just below you can make you feel a bit giddy at times, but 4pm-7pm daily is happy hour (The appetizers are half off, and you get 2 for 1 martinis).
Another piece of (less than positive) Strat trivia: It is the most popuar place for suicides in Vegas!0 -
SHOWSStayed in Excaliber - perfect, got the basic room included in my £600pp for a week in vegas. Basic room (i say basic but put that room anywhere else in the world and it would cost a lot more than the £20 per night roughly we were paying so stop the complaining)
Payed £100 through virgin for a night in Cosmopolitan looking over the fountains, Virgin lets you use the VIP queue and was a massive bonus due to the large queues that were there at the time also got free Wicked Spoon buffett breakfast thrown in too for good measure. best hotel I have ever stayed, stunning views of the fountains kept me entertained all night, would stay again for that price.
Saw Absinthe- good fun, jokes close to the bone but a very intimate version of a Cirque show. Worth the money.
Watched Blink 182 on the roof of Cosmopolitan, great show $10 a beer though. the venue though is great, a lot like most shows in Vegas pretty intimate. lots of shows coming up tto so worth a look.
Gordon Ramsey Steakhouse in Paris was good, a lot of delays though about 45 minutes to be seated and in between courses (probably because it is still new) the winner of hells Kitchen is there at the moment and was chatting to all the diners after the meal. i never watched it so wasnt for me. Food very good though and for me worth the $100 a head including tip for the 3 hours we were there.
One casino/hotel im not a fan of is the tropicanan and i dont know why. its very white and clean but i just dont like it. very strange i cant pinpoint why this is though because i want to like it.
Downtown always worth a visit though the shows are the same as last year.
Town square is a very nice shopping area (Abercrombie and fitch hoodies $30, Hollister jeans $30 polos $15, many bargains to be had and lest i forget the yardhouse, the worlds most draft beers in one bar.)
South outlet. levis $39.99 if you get 2 or more, Vans shoes for less than $20 Adidas jeans for $20 (only 32x32 a size too small... argh!)
Loving the flamingo, ceasers, cosmopolitan, new york and planet hollywood for gambling. just good atmosphere and free drinks a plenty.
US airways does a job but i would much rather fly to LA with Air New Zealand spend a couple of days there then drive to Vegas price would be on a par. US airways is a slightly better airline than ryanair. Staff are miserable (not all but most).
As long as you tell the drivers the route you want the taxis are fine. Just say 'no tunnel' from the airport in a nice way or 'down/up the strip' if they say anything just say you love looking at the strip. which for me is true. getting to freemont though you should use the freeway.
Icebar is a rip off, they wont let you take cameras and they dont even include a drink. if you really want to go, then the london one is 10x better. Much more effort made.
think thats about it.0 -

any Vegas regulars have alternative US destinations you like? Have been to Boston and really liked there... would like to go back to NYC, but it just seems stupidly expensive these days...
don't really want to spend more than 750pp for flights and a 6/7 night stay somewhere.
thanks for people's suggestions to this before
has anyone been to, and recommend, Miami? Package prices there don't seem toooo bad and it should be a little warmer than here at easter time!
I know this is the LV forum, but recommendations from fellow Vegasites will be much more appreciated0 -
SHOWSHow about a 2 centre -like Philadephia or Washington (as you've done NYC and Boston I believe) and then Amtrack to Atlantic City ? (TR rates at the hotels there of course)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
