CASINOShi, we havent been to Vegas for 3 yrs but want to go back in August or Sept 2013, I have been looking at flights and they have nearly doubled in price, please give me an idea of a decent price for a direct flight , I thought it would be a lot cheaper in Sept...but BA fares are still really expensive, any tips would be usefull.
I would say anything under £600 go for it
Remember that 3 years ago APD wasn't anything like what it is now.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

Hi, I know what you mean. Even indirect is over 700.00  I have just booked for me and my children, well 20,16,14 and 5 to go for last two weeks in August, to celebrate my 40th next year. The best I could get was with virgin. 698.00 leaving from Gatwick on the 18th August 2013-and that was using airmiles. Maybe the sales would have given me a cheaper deal, but I was hoping for under 700.00, so I took them, as I wasn't seeing anything without an 8 in the front!

you forget august is primetime for airlines/holidaymakers. they jack up the price as they know you don't have a choice!0 -

I booked my flights in Jan this year, which was for our honeymoon last month. Got BA flights through Expedia for £517 direct.
Hope that helps :-)0 -
HOTELSGlad if I helped - I almost forgot, we were just on our way out for the day when I remembered!
If you're in need of any recommendations, we spent New Year in San Francisco a few years back and stayed at the Argonaut on Fisherman's Wharf. It was such a friendly and nice quality hotel when we were there (I loved the L'Occitane goodies in the bathroom!). They serve very nice, free wine at 5pm every evening - just watch out on NYE because the servers were very generous with the sparkling wine, we were sloshed by 7pm and ended up in bed asleep before midnight! We made up for it by getting up early the next day and hiring a tandem to cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge - best start to a year ever! A friend of mine stayed there a few months ago and he loved the place too so they seem to have maintained their high standards
Thanks for the recommendation I managed to get 4 nights over New Year for £500 which seems to be a good deal for Frisco. I'd not bothered to look at this hotel as the pictures of it on various sites make it look like a prison! But after your comments I had a good look & it sounds really nice. Thanks:T0 -

We flew direct to LAX, had an overnight hotel then drove to Vegas.
Was £100 per person cheaper flights (from LHR) (Virgin £600+ LGW- £522 LHR) and we had got over some of the jet lag for the first night in Vegas.
We needed the car for the rest of the trip-but you could just hire for one day-one way.
I used Priority points for the hotel so the extra cost was only for the car +gas.
If you have the time it may be worth a thought.0 -
FREE ATTRACTIONStotallybored wrote: »I've never had problems with spending too much on booze in Vegas. While gambling I'll go for cocktails or in the nicer casinos grey goose and 7 up. I've found mojitos often aren't great as they just chuck in some ice but I've had decent cosmos in most places. My view is you might as well go for a premium drink rather than a cheapo Corona or Bud
I've found that the Encore and Wynn have decent wine but this can be dangerous. I was brought 4 large glasses of wine in under an hour on a quiet night in the Encore once, that was probably about a bottles worth and it's not a great idea to drink at that pace for too long!
If you're passing Casino Royale you might as well get a couple of the $1 beers or frozen things. Same when passing the ABC down near the MGM, grab a beer from the fridge in there when walking to the next place (they helpfully sell mini bottle openers for $1). At Fremont street do the same and buy your beers from the ABC instead of the expensive stalls outside the casinos. I can't remember which casino it is but one of them sells really cheap Coronas at one of the bars inside.0 -

that sounds really good (relatively speaking!).... we've got a week off booked for easter, and flights are coming in at £777 (direct with VA, which is the preference).
however NYC or Boston flights are coming in at about £420, which is really tempting. just a shame you can't get Vegas prices for the hotels there!0
