  • If you are ever passing mid-strip and need some quick, cheap sustenance, there is a place just around the corner from Bill's where you get a lager and a decent hot dog for $1.99.

    Stage Door ?
  • That's the one.

    Casino Royale does $1 Michelobs.

stoneman - fantastic effort on the black russians.

Dont use Priceline without boning up on the relevant Priceline user forums and threads.

This is such important advice...it can be so great if used properly...it can be awful if not. Agree with others that it's not really worth using in Vegas but other places it can be if you have done your research and know you'll be OK with any of the options you are likely to get.

As stoneman says, playing the slots is the cheapest way to get drinks. Alternatively you could try Casino Royale where Michelob and margaritas are $1 each or Hooters. Yes it's the Stage Door around the corner from Bill's which also has a small shop where you can get beer.

DC is doable. Fly into Baltimore airport and stay in a hotel near the airport. They are all in the 'burbs/commuter zone. The hotels do shuttles to the amtrack and mtrain stations. Train to DC takes you right into the central station and you walk out the doors and there it is. It literally is a ten minute walk to the Smithsonian, Capital Building, the Mall. If you keep going you pass the White House and wind up at the VietNam memorial.

Mr WonderCollie enjoyed it no end. The shopping isn't bad either. Annapolis was a quick trip and very scenic. Gas was cheap and the hotels had free parking.

Play nickle video poker and tip the CW $1 a drink and you can have as many Jack and cokes as you like. The best I did one night was 16 Black Russians, total bill, $16.00
The trouble with that is sometimes the service is thin on the ground. If you are in Planetho, go to the sports bar at the back, slip $20 in a video poker machine, play 25 cents Jacks or Better and you will get served every time your glass is empty.
There are loads of places to get cheap drinks, you should have asked on here first before going, cause there is one thing we know about here, and that's cheap booze in Vegas:beer:
is this anywhere in particular or any casino? :)

All casinos do free drink for players, whether slots, poker, BJ, whatever. I think Stonemans tip is based on experience and maybe a particular waitress.....I suspect casinos will give better waitress coverage of higher stake slots than the 1c slots.

If youre going to be there a while, a $5 initial tip is usually worthwhile to get her attention, followed by usually $1 per drink.....more if youre feeling generous or winning.

Any casino although i find the CW service is usually better when playing at the tables

I always tip $1 a drink and usually get refilled as soon as i have finished

whatever you do. dont not tip, you will get an earfull and will not see the server again

Not necessarily been our experience - since most people aren't playing 1c a spin and since the 1c slots have (on average) a higher hold/lower payback they will want to keep people on them. :) It's a volume thing though - since the low denomination slots take up most of the floor then there are more people for the waitresses to cover so I guess from that perspective it may be true.

I think some bars require you to be playing 5- credits a spin on VP, sure I read that somewhere...

I'm not a big drinker but it always seems to me that if I don't want to stick around on one slot very long - I want to graze and flit about - I will be asked if I want a cocktail about once every 27 seconds and will decline as I don't want to get stuck waiting for it...if I am settled and plan to stay awhile, then nothing. :)

You are right, some require $1.25 a spin, Bellagio even requires max credits on their $1 VP machines. Cosmo can be one of the worst at the bar as you enter, fantastic selection of cocktails and most of the time they don't ask you to play max credits but on occasions they will. And of course, Wynn/Encore don't even comp drinks at the bar, which is why their bars are always empty lol
From experience I have never been asked to put more than a quarter a hand in at Gustave's Bar in Paris, the 3 bars in Planetho, Seahorse bar at CP, Bugsy's bar at Flamingo or the round bar near the entrance at Palazzo.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
