VALUE FOR MONEYHi Ferf,
She is struggling to remember them all, she found 25 odd in the 8 days there. But, most were pretty bad apparently (she says take some wet wipes with you). These are two she recommends in particular:
http://coord.info/GCQ596
http://coord.info/GC27PZ0
The first, make sure you read careful before hunting it down:)
Have fun
Thanks so much for that! The first one is on my list already (and I think I know what I have to do) but the second isn't so I shall add it. And noted on the wet wipes thing, always have them with me when going out here so will make sure to drop some in my case.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

VALUE FOR MONEYBacchanal buffet at CP (its gone up in price already)
there is a very long and excellent review over on vegasmessageboard and also this posted about the 24 hour pass
Yes, there is a diamond line. The BoB pass does not seem a good option if you want to eat at this buffet. The website says it's a $15 upcharge to eat at Bacchanal (and you have to pay that $15 each time you want to eat there). I would just skip the BoB pass and spend the $37.99 on one good dinner. You're not going to want to eat at Paris or Rio after eating here and you definitely won't want to pay the $15 upcharge to have breakfast at Bacchanal. Or skip dinner and just get breakfast here for $17.99. I haven't had the breakfast, but I hear they have quite a large fresh juice selection0 -
CASINOSHi, has anyone flown recently with Virgin from Manchester? We go on 25 October and am praying for a refurb and a good flight!
Not flown from Manchester, but according to a post on V-Flyer, 4 of the 747's have been refurbed, and number 5 is in progress and should be back by the time you fly.
That leaves 2 more to be done, and 1 which isn't being refurbed as it is leaving the fleet early next year, so you have a fairly high chance of getting a nice new refurbished plane.
Enjoy your trip. :beer:0 -
Got up and finished packing - all bar what we need for the pool today, and head down to the pool. Went for breakfast at wicked spoon around 11 and after my complaining that I was starting to get bored there were quite a few new things out this morning, so maybe they vary it every week or so? Out to the pool again until 2pm, up to the room, shower and get airport ready then downstairs to check out. I would have used the telly check-out but wanted to pay our bill in the last of our dollars cash to use them up rather than the credit card.
Check out was easy although I did spot that they had charged us 2 x $6.58 for wicked spoon one day which wasn't right but they took that off immediately I told them. The daily breakfast charges had all been added on then deducted and the 2 cocktails charged to our room had also been successfully deducted as per the virgin deal. Once checked out we put our suitcases in with the bellboys - simple process and given a ticket to collect them later.
Headed south towards Luxor as we'd decided to squeeze in a visit to the Titanic exhibition there. It also meant that the majority of the walking was indoors through the hotels and therefore air conditioned so not getting all hot n sticky before the airport. Enjoyed the Titanic exhibition although I'm not sure 'enjoyed' is the right word. We both found it very emotional as a lot of the artifacts are very personal items - shoes, glasses, rings etc and it is very cleverly done to create the atmosphere of the ship and what happened. I loved the recreated staircase and the deck of the ship. At the start you are given a ticket with a real passengers name and a bit of background on it then at the end you find out whether you died or survived. You get to the end desperately hoping you survived. This exhibition caught us both and I'd definitely recommend it.
Walked back to the cosmo and went to Holsteins. We shared a longhorn burger and some steak cut fries, hubby had a draught Hoegarden and I had a peaches and cream shake - which actually has vodka in it, was lovely! Bill was $38.
Went downstairs and played the ghostbusters machine for a while and had a couple of drinks from the waitresses. Collected our suitcases, tipping the bellhops, and out for a taxi to the airport. Taxi driver didn't take the tunnel this time and it was only $18.
Trip home was fine, albeit long by the time we connected at heathrow and on to Glasgow. Was brilliant to see the kids running out to meet us and they were over the moon with all their presents.
We loved our holiday to Vegas and although we were convinced this would be a one-off never to be repeated trip, if the opportunity was there again we would definitely go back. I thought I would feel that once I'd seen it that would be that. But no - there's loads we didn't do, and loads we'd love to do again, so you never know. :rotfl:
Thanks so much to everyone on this board. The information and help on here definitely made our trip easier to plan and to get the most out of it.0 -

BUFFETSThanks for your fab trip report, I loved reading it
I know what you mean about the Titanic Exhibition, I found it very moving. We went to the one in Orlando last year but it was nowhere near as well done.
The first time I went to Vegas (New Year 2003/04) I enjoyed it but wasn''t too bothered if I didn't go back. For that trip we didn't do any research bar finding the cheapest flights and hotel (two stop and the Riviera). My husband (well, he became my husband while we were there!) wanted to go back, so we did in August 2010. This time we were much more clued up and I fell completely in love with the place! I'd be there every weekend if I could haha!"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now"

VALUE FOR MONEYreally struggling to find a better value-for-money trip to the US than Vegas... I think Vegas is always somewhere we'll regularly return to, but would love to try some other US/Canadian cities... preferably more east than west.
any Vegas regulars have alternative US destinations you like? Have been to Boston and really liked there... would like to go back to NYC, but it just seems stupidly expensive these days...
don't really want to spend more than 750pp for flights and a 6/7 night stay somewhere.0 -
