We are a few miles further north than Aberdeen and the accent is totally different. I think a lot of people from Aberdeen talk "posh" compared to us, unless they come from Torry!

We speak in Doric is any of the timeshare people try to talk to us and that flummoxes them.

Honestly, really a la Stoneman? It's 918 am on my clock in the room, I don't think it's cocktail time yet :rotfl:

We're about to head down to the pool maybe in an hour. Bit of cloud in the sky but should be fine. It was quite cloudy yesterday when we went to the pool.

Luci - lol at the timeshare folk. Good luck to them. We've actually not had any approach us here yet, but we've only been on the strip a few times. Yes, we have committed the sin of being in Vegas and not going onto the strip. We drove up it when we were at the Orleans, but didn't actually set foot on it until we dropped the car off. It's funny how after several trips here we realise there is so much else going on away from the strip.

Can't remember if I said we had a groupon for Gaetano's in Henderson and it was very very good. Also loved Green Valley Ranch. Hope I'm not going to get into trouble for saying this. ;)

  • Am home after an amazing week out there - definitely noticed the difference with this being a very last min thing compared to having a couple of months planning behind me though, in terms of eating and doing things and overall spending!

Flew with Virgin, planes seemed really old but were comfy enough. Ended up with a row of 3 between 2 of us on way back yesterday so managed to stretch out and sleep for 5-6 hours... Food was dire but ate it anyway.

Stayed one night (Sat) at the Stratosphere, for the price we paid it was ok. We didn't expect much, the room was large and clean but the bathroom was weird in that the bath and toilet were enclosed but the sink was in the bedroom. Went up the tower as it was free for hotel guests, ate in a diner in the hotel and went to bed at 9pm as we were delirious with lack of sleep.

Moved to Caesar's for 5 nights on the Sun... Did the $20 trick and ended up with a mini-suite in Augustus Tower. No great view but the room was amazing especially considering what we should've been in!! Really liked CP in terms of atmosphere and location and saw Michael Phelps in the casino which was the only star spot of the holiday (two guys from TOWIE were on our flight out but they don't really count)

It def turned out to be more of a drinking rather than activities holiday ;) Also ended up having a very good trip to the outlets one day after being let down by Fashion Show Mall....Am off to check my bank balance - it won't be pretty as we absolutely rinsed it... It seemed a lot more expensive than when I last there 2 years ago?

I will write more when brain is functioning properly - am on a major post-LV downer tonight!!

Back in the room cooling down after a few hours at the pool. It's toasting down there. They're closing the pool for a function this evening, so I guess it will be a wedding. We'll get a good view as we're right above the pool. We're heading out for a champagne brunch shortly, but then coming back so we can get dressed a bit nicer for our show this evening. Matt Goss. Don't laugh.

We've not really found it expensive this time, I think it's still fairly easy to do Vegas on a budget, but as has already been said it's the research that helps with that. We're probably going to Bellagio for brunch, so not cheap. Last night we just had 'small plates' at Stir in the Platinum. They do happy hour 4-8 and the small plates and drinks are all half price. Kevin had 2 coors light and humous (sp?) and pita, I had a white zinfandel and a prosecco and bruschetta. Both small plates were fairly filling. Total bill was $24 so very reasonable. We didn't need dinner, however did munch on some bread and cheese when we got in. We also got good drinks service when playing slots which always helps.

HaHa, in the words of the great Jimmy Buffet "it's 5 O'clock somewhere"
Wish I was with you but we are at least enjoying cocktails on the roof bar of LaMomba bar in Torquay. Fantastic weather as well, ching, ching!!
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
