CASINOSMy son phoned me today to say he has booked a trip to Vegas for 5 nights with BA for November and can I help him out with what to do!! It will be his first trip since he went with me, his mother and little sister when he was 13, he is 30 now. Since it is his birthday trip I have paid for him and his G/F to stay at the Platinum, and am busy doing the overenthusiastic dad thing of finding cool stuff for a 30 year old to do. He will be hiring a car and wants to go shooting at the gun shop, I have told him about the rides at Strat, driving out to the Valley of Fire, and maybe a horsetrail ride at Red Rock. Any other sugestions welcomed. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

A posh Aberdonian that's a new one , especially if yer like me and fae mastrick.
Leave for Vegas for our 5 th time in exactly 24 hours ,
Hmph. Try being a transplanted Aberdonian travelling on a Canadian passport with your travel bud being transplanted northern English.
Good times after a few drinks as the childhood accents come back.
I'm expecting sleet Tuesday, so I've learnt never say never to sna.0 -

VALUE FOR MONEYHaHa, in the words of the great Jimmy Buffet "it's 5 O'clock somewhere"
Wish I was with you but we are at least enjoying cocktails on the roof bar of LaMomba bar in Torquay. Fantastic weather as well, ching, ching!!
Dammit - if you were at that pool we'd have brought you down a wine or a coors. I hear the weather is nice just now in England..some pics on facebook of surfing etc earlier so must have been warm. Not our end of the county though lol. I would say enjoy the cocktails but I'm sure you'll be in bed by now. We still have a few hours of this evening left in Vegas.
Had Bellagio Brunch (I came back to the table with about 6 or 7 mini desserts then Kevin announced he didn't feel well so couldn't help me eat them!!!). Managed to get about 4 champagnes, which were in regular wine glasses so bit tipsy. Need to get ready for the evening shortly - going to see Matt Goss. Not sure if I was supposed to admit to that :rotfl:0 -

Was just about to say, make sure he gets a Princess Suite to do the washing....what can be better than going in the jacuzzi whilst hearing your washing whirring away in the background. :rotfl: A wee goody bag with some washing tablets would go down a treat.
Being serious, I'm sure he will find his own entertainment, but a few suggestions (if I'm allowed)....Voodoo Lounge at Rio (before 10pm and preferably not at the weekend for free entry). Sorry I know that's off strip but it is honestly a good experience.
Did you do go to Stir much Stoneman? Really liked the bruschetta last night. Won't be hungry enough for it tonight though.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYHiy, twa or three chiels that can spik the Doric!
Didna ken there wis si mony fowk fae hereaboots.
Now how do you guys get to Vegas, one stop in LHR or two?
I will spik ( speak ) posh now ( my mastrick voice ).
Hi Lucy afraid it is 2 stops this year ABZ - HRW - LAX - LAS it worked out cheaper when I was trying to get flights in Jan ,£637 each , We don't mind the 2 stops as it gets immigration out of the way at Los Angeles .
I fact talking of airports , TAXIS HERE , shouts my wife I am out of here.
Bye peoples , partys on.I eat time share touts for breakfast 2 for 10 -
Have a brill time.
If we do 2 stops I prefer to go ABZ-LHR-LAX-LAS as I like to get the long flight out of the way knowing it's only 45 mins from LAX to LAS.
We have done stops in Minneapolis, Dallas, Chicago, etc but I hated the fact that I still had a 4-5 hour flight after landing in the US.0 -

Obviously depends on what sort of things they like (I don't think all 30-year-olds necessarily like the same things) but some ideas...
Zipline downtown (flightlinezfremont.com/)
Various ATV options not too far away
Scoot City Tour (if it comes up on Groupon again before he goes).
If he's a roller coaster guy you could send him to Primm (with outlets as an option to make the trip worth it if shopping is on their list, though may not be the best outlet option depending on what they are after) to ride Desperado.
There have always been plenty of 'younger' people at Las Vegas Mystery Adventures when we have gone...you obviously know if this is something he and his GF might like or not, I acknowledge it wouldn't be for everyone.
If they like animals roosnmore.com might be an option for them, if they have an open zoo day during their visit...I really don't know if the Walk with the Otters experience will ever be beaten out by anything else we'll do in the future on a Vegas trip.
He's probably too young to really have any sentimental fondess for pinball machines so the Pinball Hall of Fame may not be something to suggest - we've said we will go this trip, finally...after so many years of saying we will and not making it...figure the 20th trip is a good time to mop up some of those things we've always put off.
P.S. I can't believe you have a son who is 30!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Groupon have Scoot City at the moment, but no mention of when it finishes although it must be soon.
Party tour
Nightclub tour
