Absolutely, you should be able to please yourself on holiday. I think the great thing about Vegas for me is that I don't feel bad about sunbathing all day as everything is still going on all night so I don't miss out!

I have tried to let people know that sunbathing in Vegas all day is possible, but most people I tell (who havent been) dont get it. As you say the weather is great for lots of the year making it a great destination to do exactly that

If I did a TR you would all be bored silly

As Vegas has sun, shopping, golf, gambling, food and booze all great value for money. If I could find that somewhere nearer I'd there.

Snap with the TR and its the value for money that does it for me, I would also be bored silly anywhere else

Not sure if this will appeal to anyone but just in case...20th October only so will limit those who it might interest...I don't personally see how it would be worth $45 for 2, but not the sort of thing that would float our boat anyway (but good to know as now we won't go downtown that day!)

$45 for Two General Admission Passes to the Downtown Brew Festival on October 20, 2012 (Up to a $90 Value)
Purchasers receive access to a festival featuring over 150 beers, unlimited tastings, and food for purchase. Sudsy swigs are scored with performances from live musicians and award-winning burping choirs. Nonprofits selected by Motley Brews receive a portion of the proceeds from the festival.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

I know its off topic and a long shot but has anybody visited Sun City in South Africa and if so how does it compare to Vegas?

It is quite hard work, it's not for the casual sunbather! It's the only place I have ever been where sunbeds in the shade are more in demand than any other!

One of the reasons I enjoy staying at the signature is because it's so easy to pop back up for lunch or to top up your drink, both to get a little break from the sun and not pay crazy pool prices.
  • Hi Vegasites!

We have booked to get married next June, Flights,Wedding, Hotel, car all booked... just one thing.

We haven't got a clue where to go for our Wedding Breakfast. We are having 6 guests and we are getting married at 4pm.

I am a bit of a foodie, but the hubby to be is your typical meat and two veg man. Where can we go that is special enough for a wedding meal without being obscenely expensive and will cater for the steak lovers?

Any advice be totally grateful :)

    xx

Anyone got a recommendation for a night club for a group of in the 40ish age group?

We want to experience a club but maybe 70s/80s/90s music.

MSE prices would be good too!
  • I've just found out there's a new Cirque Du Soleil show starting in the Aria this November. There's a preview on the website and I think it looks fantastic.

Been going to Vegas since the mid-80s so I've really seen it change.

Back in the mid 90s, Vegas was promoted as a "family destination". Treasure Island and the Excalibur bent over backwards to get you and your kids in. The MGM used to have a huge theme park out back with a pirate show (still have pictures of the boys with the pirates) and one of those watershute log ride things. They had a great time.

The last few times I've been, it's been for the shopping and to get away from our winter.

I think I agree with the private house or condo being a great way to go. A friend has a condo just behind the Hooters Casino, pool, laundry, and a short walk to the Strip. A work buddy's family have just bought a house down there (there are great deals in Arizona and Nevada right now due the US foreclosure rate).

My ward has an AT&T phone that is in the US more than it's in Canada. Anyone can use it, just bring it back and top up with whatever you've used. It's been replaced a few time by the younger nurses as the original wasn't "tech savy" enough for them.
