Yup. Unfortunately Trikers phones (which I used first....thanks Triker) went on to someone who promptly disappeared from the site :(

Maybe next time Blindman, only to someone with a "history" on this thread?

Yes, there would have to be a "minimum" post and "helpfulness" criteria.

I also think that the Triker phones fiasco was awful...even ignoring the MSE element, it's just rude!

and elantan - I understand your reluctance, but like the others would also love to hear your thoughts on why Vegas didn't appeal to you.

I know some people who cannot bear Vegas and cannot understand why we keep going back...some just don't like the sensory overload of the place, period...most of those are ones who like holidays in peaceful beach-y places where they just relax the whole time (which would probably kill me - I would be bored to death in less than a day...but am a firm believer that no one should judge another's holiday preferences and if that's what makes someone happy, then good on them for doing what they enjoy). :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

thanks everyone, i just didnt want to upset anyone as i know that many here love it,

I understand why some people hate it, I tread a fine line with loving it and hating it to be honest, I HATE saturday nights in Vegas, this past one has been the worst yet. Its the weather thats the big pull for us, we sunbathe all day then I am entertained by shopping in the evening, so it ticks all my holiday boxes, I love America and I love sunbathing, and there isnt much sunbathing to be had in Manhattan! I also think its great that you get so much for your money in terms of hotels etc, we would never be able to have a big suite anywhere else. Those things alone are enough to keep us coming back!

Not a fan of them either...but I know that Saturday night's in Vegas are the best part for other people. :)

I really hope that you will, would be really interesting to read and I don't think that many here will take any issue with anything you write...chances are that there are some of us that are either indifferent to or don't at all like some of the things you didn't like..just that there is something else that makes it worth it for us...sounds like for you there wasn't enough good to outweigh any bad.

like JennyJenJen (if I may use her as an example)...the idea of going to Vegas and spending a lot of time sunbathing is complete madness to me (doesn't help that I would burn to a crisp even if I didn't get antsy after about 10 minutes of landing on a lounger)...but if that's what Jenny likes to do on her holiday, then good for her...it's her holiday and I can understand why she would do something she enjoys.

Probably she would think the amount of time we spend roaming around playing slots is a total waste of time...but probably she'll be glad we do what we enjoy with our time. :)

I'd really like to read your trip report too Elantan. We're going for the third time next year but my brother and sil are coming on their first visit. It would be helpful to know what you didn't like, in case they feel the same way, as we can then make sure there are alternative activities wherever possible!

Absolutely, you should be able to please yourself on holiday. I think the great thing about Vegas for me is that I don't feel bad about sunbathing all day as everything is still going on all night so I don't miss out!

I am another who hates saturday nights in vegas but otherwise loves it. Toooo many loud obnoxious college kids at a weekend.

would be interesting to know why you didnt like it, altough I know you dont like casinos and they are hard to avoid
  • CASINOS
If I did a TR you would all be bored silly....I try to post a couple of live bits when I'm there as otherwise I would forget what we did. As we stay in a house it's different than staying on the strip. I like having your own pool with free drinks!
This time I really enjoyed M Resort,it wasn't crowded and for me had the best selection of slots, although we found slots to be very tight at all casinos. The strip was soooooo busy I didn't enjoy it that much.
My son was old enough to do the Strat sky jump which he loved,he also enjoyed zip line downtown.
Food for us was very casual, buffets at M,Orleans and Cosmo.Meal at Ryhtym Kitchen, secret pizza in Cosmo and chicken from Walmart!
As soon as I return home I think and plan next years hols,I try and come up with an alternative to Vegas but would be bored doing a beach/pool holiday,I'm not a fan of sightseeing ( wasn't even wowed by GC!). Vegas has sun, shopping, golf, gambling, food and booze all great value for money. If I could find that somewhere nearer I'd be there......maybe....
