Thanks for that, I was going to ask what room to ask for.:TThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
CASINOSFair enough - so look at this as an economical trial trip - you never know, you may find you love it (even in a HH room)...or you may find that you've got it out of your system and that you prefer Platinum.
.
That is exactly how we are looking at it. It's the 3rd trip this year and it's 10 nights, so wanted to keep the cost down. Also want to see if we could put up with just a room and not have the sprawling suite. The irony is that when we first got quoted by Derrick at the Platinum it was $129 a night, if he had come in at what it is now, $89, we would have gone with it, but now we are too far down the road to change plans, and Tracy has to keep telling me to leave it as it is.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. We got one last time and didn't even ask... booked through Expedia. Must have been the English charm

VALUE FOR MONEYwe only made that once but it was a great night... free wine, followed by half price wine is never a bad thing
incidently the Travelzoo offer that was thru to August, has now been extended thru to September:
http://www.travelzoo.com/hotels/las-vegas/-89-Vegas-4-Star-Suite-near-The-Strip-incl-Weekends-1283074/
I've dropped Platinum a line to see if they'll price match / beat (to save me faffing with rebooking etc)
Noticed that Travelzoo states:
not for me admittedly, but will hopefully enjoy watching from my balcony
Now got another dilemma :rotfl:
Ok, we are staying at GVR for 2 nights when we arrive.
Then we're booked into the Rio for 3 nights, but considering changing this to 4 nights at Orleans to do the slot tournament which will overlap our second night at GVR. Still hadn't decided 100% though.
And now there's this opportunity to get a Princess Suite Strip view at Platinum for $119, which is the cheapest price ever (and includes weekends). So we are booked for Carriage House for 7 nights and could change to Platinum. But it's a tricky one. Quite fancied trying the Carriage House, yet this Platinum deal is very good. However, I hate the parking situation at Platinum as it's valet only and I hate valet parking. I do fancy a few wee wines on the balcony, perhaps with a pizza from Metro at Ellis Island though
Argh....why are there so many choices :rotfl:0 -
SHOWSVirgin has an Economy Reward Seat sale from tomorrow till 15th August. 50% off miles.

VALUE FOR MONEYThanks for that, I was going to ask what room to ask for.:T
we got moved to one and loved it...$20 trick didn't work for us, though seemed they were really busy the night we checked in so worth a shot as it worked for pebbles and I'm sure others...
Ultimately you'll be in Vegas, so wherever you stay, you will be in Vegas.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
CASINOSThanks for that, I was going to ask what room to ask for.:T
I have stayed at PH a few times and before that when it was Aladdin. We have always booked a standard room, third party and only once stayed in that standard room and that was the first time when we were Vegas virgins and didn't know about $20 trick or asking for comp upgrade, even then I don't remember the room being as bad as Ferfs sounded.
We have tipped $20 or $50 and have then since always been successful and got a fountain view resort room which was great. Two not so great things but didn't bother us,the TV is at the side of the bed and not a lot of wardrobe space (may be an issue for Tracy's dress collection!).
We also go in the summer so may be a quieter time and more chance of getting one :T
One small thing I think is true about PH is that the rooms are supposed to be about 7 doors away from an elevator not sure how that is possible and I always forgot to count but never walked far to room....so no long walks down the corridor in those heels!
We are over in Cosmo from 23/8 will look out for you running down the strip from my balcony!0 -

Worked for us at MB,booked a 550 room through 3rd party and bagged a 750 suite with $50 that was 2 upgrades and very nice room indeed!:j
I had read a tip to know what room you would like to be upgraded to. When checking in at MB I asked if she had any comp upgrades and she asked what room I was thinking of. I therefore knew what to ask for and thought I'd try higher as they can always come down.
Forgot to say we always have at least 2 rooms booked when we go and we check in together so we both either get an upgrade or neither of us,this was the same at PH Stoneman so 2 room upgrades for $20 or $50 per room.0 -
