Envy yes on restaurant.com unless they are sold out at the minute (search may need to be within 5-miles of the strip, not sure)...Stripburger maybe if you're really lucky and you can log on on 1st august, but doesn't seem likely given your timings...the others I don't think they are on restaurant.com.

Remember that portions in the US are massive - somewhere like Peppermill and Cheesecake Factory especially...we aren't small people, and we do each order a main as we like different things, but both probably leave 1/2 of our meal uneaten...places do have split plate charges, but if you want the same thing, may be worth going that route rather than ordering 2 separate things.

thanks for this i was a bit concerned about portion sizes ... both myself and hubby arnt exactly small people either but i think i will be struggling with some of the meals ... wasnt aware you could split the plate ... good idea :)

i can see envy $75 for $30 which seems not too bad a deal ... maybe will get that one :)

I always grumble when we leave Vegas as I think it's so cheap to eat. I usually pig out at a breakfast buffet $20ish on strip $7 at the Orleans and don't need anything else til evening usually.

I like the Victorian rooms in Bills for reasonably priced meals on the Strip itself too.

just checked my email to see if there were any discount codes available but the last one I have was SUMMER and ended 26th July...that was 30% off.

There don't seem to be as many codes as there used to be, and those that there are are not as good.

If you're certain you will eat at Envy it would certainly be worth getting the voucher, but do check the menu first to see what sort of prices (they are nearly $50 per steak as has been said). But check the minimum spend - is it $150? THink when we had a $75 voucher the minimum spend was $150.

    Envy menu

    http://www.envysteakhouse.com/food/dinner-menu.aspx

minimum spend IS $150 on the $75 voucher at Envy...there were 4 of us when we used ours...so you would have to spend $150 - then they would take off $75 but you paid $30 for the voucher...so $150-75+30 = $105 total spend...when we got ours it was a 90% off sale at restaurant.com.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

The Stripburger one is a bit more sensible $25 needs a $35 spend so can get a meal for around $10

you have squarely hit the nail on the head here ... the last comment was place under a picture where they had ice in the sink with bottles of coke in the ice me el asked why they didnt use the fridge and the reply was ... it costs $25 to open the door ... mr el said dont you have a fridge that you can use without having to pay bar prices the reply came back no

so the couple are staying at mandalay bay ( not sure what kinda rooms etc) and have a room with only the bar fridge

i think from my persepctive i am panicking incase i havnt researched enough .... there just seems so much to research ...

where as mr el is panicking because of the friend on facebook that has been talking about mainly bar prices and water prices
As you are staying in the Platinum there is an ice and cold water dispenser in the door of your fridge!! Also in the foyer there is a couple of big cold water dispensers with orange and lemon slices during the day. In the morning there is warm spiced apple drink. Also apples and in the afternoons chocolate chip cookies!! You get free coffee every day and a coffee maker in the room. As has been mentioned there is a gas station next door and a 7-11 next to that, there is plenty around you to keep you topped up.
As for the cab, no need to mention the tunnel if you feel funny about that, just say "Platinum hotel, can you go via Swenson please"
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Platinum also had a long running promo for half price happy hour tapas and bar drinks in the evening every night till around 8 or 9pm.

Hopefully still running. Had some great evenings down there talking to bar staff & locals. They also sometimes have musicians on

    Great little retreat

Oh they also had some cocktail promo happy hours by the pool to. Though you sometimes have to phone them so someone comes and takes ur order
