Ahh ok sorry my mistake
But would many people accept a free upgrade without tipping?0 -

Ah but that is a big debate in itself. Some people say they got an upgrade just by asking and smiling some say that it takes $20 tip so it's a bit difficult to decide whether or not the money actually got them the upgrade or they would have been given one anywayThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
CASINOS
We have tipped $20 or $50 and have then since always been successful and got a fountain view resort room which was great. Two not so great things but didn't bother us,the TV is at the side of the bed and not a lot of wardrobe space (may be an issue for Tracy's dress collection!).
We also go in the summer so may be a quieter time and more chance of getting one :T
One small thing I think is true about PH is that the rooms are supposed to be about 7 doors away from an elevator not sure how that is possible and I always forgot to count but never walked far to room....so no long walks down the corridor in those heels!
We are over in Cosmo from 23/8 will look out for you running down the strip from my balcony!
I think ferf's room was a little too close to the elevator! The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
CASINOSJust remembered one of the upgrades at PH was from sending an email along the lines of....really enjoyed your hotel last year looking forward to staying again in xweek....at check in clerk said there is a message attached to your booking saying welcome back and enjoy your stay in resort room....thank you PH!0

VALUE FOR MONEYdirectly next to the goods lift which ran pretty much constantly behind the bed and made the room shake and sounded a bit like a train running behind the bed = too close to the elevator, yes.
But we did not like the HH room at all even ignoring that...soooo small compared to what we had gotten used to at Bally's and Caesars and Encore...so small...so dark...hated it...bathroom was big though. Did not help that it was hubby's birthday trip and *I* had pressed to stay there since they had become part of the CET group and we could now get rooms comped...and as we end up at the casino a lot, like a lot of the restaurants...so we booked that instead of Palace Tower at Caesars...no comparison...huge mistake on my part...enormous.
The Resort Room made up for it in the end...but we'll never ever book PH again if there's a risk we will get stuck in a HH room, and as that is all we can get comped up front, we just won't do it given we were not successful with the $20 trick at check-in even both being platinum at the time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
ahhhh Planet Hollywood...
I was happy with Hollywood Hip room (2 Queens so better TV placement?)
I was happy with the non-strip view (of Platinum / Carriage House etc)
I was happy with the price (~$60 p/n if I recall)
I was happy with the journey from room to strip
all that aside though, I despised the pool, in both 'size' (or lack of), but also the fact there seemed to be more posers in there than in all the other pools i've been in (combined!) - there's also not much room by the pool and the majority of the time you ended up sitting down the 'middle-stretch' with the DJ blahing away playing his loud music
(... i'm young(ish) and love my music, but thought it was really in your face 'loud')0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYi see there's a 2week 50% off reward seat sale on at the mo... tempting!
does anyone have any tips/tricks on how to get best value from these?
i've currently got 18900 miles (another 5500 to come after Sept's LV trip, doh!) so would cost me £90 to buy enough miles to get into the 23750 LV bracket. so about £328+90 for flights only through VA to LV.0 -
CASINOSInteresting - VA just rang me ahead of my weekend flight to LAS - offering UC for another #750 - tempted!!!!:D0

I have never paid more than £550ish (total) to fly to LAS, so an extra £750 wouldnt be tempting me!. Struggling at mo though to find a decent price,
its a means to an end IMO0 -
