Woo! Finally booked my Vegas holidays. Going on the 1st October to the 11th. Gonna spend 5 nights at bills and 5 at the tropicana. Cheers for all the help and suggestions everyone! Just need to get organised with booking some shows. Really fancy the evil dead musical0

Flight prices seem to have got sillier this year. We would have been nearly £800 for flights from Glasgow to Vegas via Philly in September, so we took the £585 option and are flying to LA instead.
I hope they don't keep up the high prices!
I got flights to Vegas via philly for £530pp for the beginning of October. But i gotta agree the flight prices have been pretty hefty. It only just dropped this week.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYMacca, I've noticed the prices have dropped now, but we'd never have left it this late to book. We always book in January because historically that was when the best deals can be found. I think the via Philly ones are about £630 just now for our dates
We just need to work out how we can stop our US airways miles from expiring now since we will have about 2 years between flights by the time we fly again with them next year (assuming we get a decent price for next year). We're flying with BA this time, Glasgow to LA via Heathrow. Should probably join their points program as well.0 -
Well i originally wanted to book from inverness and had been watching the prices religiously. But they shot up over the last week so i had to go with the contingency plan and add a couple hundred extra miles to the old fiesta0

VALUE FOR MONEYI take it you have to do Inverness to somewhere like London or Manchester though?
Went to Inverness a couple of years ago - lovely place. I remember having a few drinks in a place called Hootananny. Fun place.0 -
CASINOSWe're flying with BA this time, Glasgow to LA via Heathrow. Should probably join their points program as well. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

Im further north of inverness but i have been known to go to hootanannys on occasion lol the cheapest flights from inverness flew via Amsterdam. Took about 16 hours. Which isn't that much when you compare it to a 5 hour drive to Glasgow0

VALUE FOR MONEYStoneman - I'm not sure we'll fly with them again, and also if the points expire due to period of inactivity it could be pointless. I'll definitely look into it though.
Macca - 5 hours is a tough drive. I didn't realise it was that far, but when we went we drive via Inveraray, Oban, Fort William (was out the car for up to an hour at each), and still got to Inverness in time to get showered and out for dinner. On the way home it was pretty wet and we stopped at Aviemore and Pitlochry, both of which are miserable in the rain. I guess you also have to be in plenty of time for a flight, or possibly stay overnight at the airport. I suppose an Amsterdam route wouldn't be bad at all, but I guess the price wasn't right.0 -
Im about 2 hours north of inverness so it can be a bit of a trek. The inverness flight was only £550 but i was gambling on the fact that the price might drop. When it shot up i lost my nerve and booked Glasgow lol0

I have been via Amsterdam many times (from Norwich), like you I save a 3 to 4 hour drive to a London aiport, the drive home from London after a night flight is horrible.
While a direct flight is preferable, for us living out in the sticks it is often better to go the connecting route0
