Just booked up for August. 10 nights starting on the 20th (we like it hot!!) BA WT+ but not sure where we are staying. Got an email from Derek at the Platinum and they are offering us $109 + tax. Pretty steep, was actually looking at an offer from the Flamingo via our TR account. $490 + tax for the whole 10 nights in a Go room. But not really happy giving them our custom after the incident where they dropped one of our cases, smashed it along with the perfume and creme bottles inside and ruined a good £500 worth of dresses. Then refused liability. It might be nice to stay on the strip this time though and not have to get the car out every night.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

can anyone recommend a sim card for the States? either one to get when over there (where from?) or one I can get in the UK before going...

I'd like to use my smartphone as regularly as I do at home - checking in, uploading pics to Facebook, etc. as we go along.

Naturally I'll use free wifi where I can get it, but would like to have the freedom of using data wherever/whenever.

I went to Europe recently and in a few days hit the 50mb limit and the £40 ceiling!

I'm sure you are aware that data usage in the US is mega expensive. Orange is £8/MB so your 50MB over there would have been £400.

pebblesmax should be able to advise on the US sim card as she has one.

I never heard that whole don't eat reheated rice until I moved here and have eaten reheated Chinese takeaway my entire life (and reheated home cooked rice) and have never fallen ill afterwards.. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

hiya... O2 contracts cap overseas usage at 50mb and a max charge of £40, so at least it's some kind of safety net :D

It's only a potential problem if you leave it out overnight at room temp. THe nasty that can cause issues doesn't always get killed by cooking so if left at room temp can grow back. Stick it in the fridge/freezer and it's fine.

One thing I forgot to mention when I got back was buffets.

We had the Travelzoo offer with the free daily buffet at either Paris, Spice Market or Carnival World.

We went for the dinner buffet at Paris and it was absolutely excellent and this is from someone who normally hates a buffet for dinner or lunch. There was a great choice of dishes and all the food was fresh and hot. It was so good we went back the following night, had breakfast the day after that then lunch the following day.

We also went to the Spice Market twice for breakfast. Now I swore last year that I wouldn't go back there as it had been pretty bad last year and the year before and the service was shocking. I was pleasantly surprised as it was actually pretty good apart from the smoked salmon still being as dry as dust.

I wasn't impressed with the Paris buffet last year either, but both buffets seem to have upped their game and we enjoyed every visit.

Remember there is a $5 coupon for the Spice Market at https://www.destinationcoupons.com However there was also someone handing out 25% off coupon for it in the casino.

Im slowly working my way through the posts in this thread and Im getting more and more excited by the thought of taking a holiday there! I think its the pictures of the food that's done it! Has anyone stayed at the Luxor? What's it like?
