How was Biscayne Luci? What type of place is it? (Fine dining?), and would you have gone without a Groupon? :)

We liked Biscayne. It is fine dining, but it's not pretentious although I thought our server was a wee bit up himself.

We have eaten there on a previous trip without any coupon and really liked it. They have a reasonably priced 4 course tasting menu with wine pairings. When we went there was steak on the menu and we had a really nice meal. I wasn't so keen on the recent tasting menu I saw, but would check it again in case there was something that suited.

We have seen Terry Fator twice and really enjoyed the show. As ferf says, it wasn't OMG what a fantastic show, but it was very good and very funny a lot of the time.

fantastic pictures, Luci! So hungry...and have to agree with bubble that now I really, really want steak.

I love that you guys get mac & cheese with your steaks, just like me...:)

Even though we order mac n cheese, I still don't "get" why you have macaroni cheese with a beautiful steak. Only in America. :rotfl:

Choosing your steak at Gordon Ramsay Steak

    IMG_1358.jpg

Hubby and I are arguing about this now...I say you pick your specific steak, he thinks you pick your cut.

    Please settle argument. :)

Also, upon seeing the PF Chang's picture for just a second he said he thought it was a picture of one of our visits.

the more I look at the picture the more I think I'm losing this one!
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Sorry ferf, but hubby is right, you choose your cut from the selection.

That is actually a huge stainless steel cart that they wheel to your table and then they explain each cut. Those are round mirrors angled above each cut so that you can see the marbling in case it isn't obvious from the photo.

I couldn't believe it when the cooked steak was taken out and shown to us prior to being cut. It was sliced beautifully as you see it on the plate.

The restaurant is getting great reviews on Yelp.

As well as steaks, there is also his signature Beef Wellington, fish and chips and shepard's (sic) pie. Now I'm not sure if that is how it is spelt on the menu, but that is how I seen it spelt in reviews.

No way would I a) pay $44 for fish and chips nor b) have fish in the desert. Coming from a major fishing port we are used to our fish actually being fresh and not what they try to pass off as fresh in places like Vegas.

Oh, as for PF Chang's. They don't seem to have sides such as rice or noddles on the menu hence the reason we had lo mein, then realised that was an entree too.

Never fear, it wasn't wasted. We asked for it To Go and it was just as good heated in the oven next day for lunch. Another reason for loving the Carriage House.

If you book a show before you go I would avoid first night and possibly second as you will probably fall asleep.....

    Good advice.
We had to see Viva Elvis on our second night because it was dark the following week.
Fell asleep after a few songs, woke up during Viva Las Vegas and thought it was all a dream.

surely every (ok 99%) restaurant will have a vegeterian option.

As long as you make it clear before you order they will serve you any dish without the meat or associated meat products they are cooked in.

In vegas they like to do things "your" way ;)
