the accomadation in yosemite park was £690 for 3 nights  .... and then there is death valley at i think £225 a night ... so las vegas is much cheaper ( even the expensive hotels are much cheaper) but things like drink and food could work out more expensive
Our death valley accommodation is normally $155 plus resort fee (or something like that)... Where are you seeing prices like that?0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYOk, I'll jump on that bandwagon and praise the Orleans. We've stayed there about 3 or 4 times (maybe more??). We're getting a similar rate for the Rio this year though so we've booked that instead. They have a fridge, not sure about a coffee maker. We got it for $31.50 per night, which is really good
Orleans buffet also has wine for $6 per bottle plus tax, works out at about $7. You just pay the server and they go get it and some glasses. Choice of Red, White or Rose. Great deal. MGM buffet used to have glasses of bubbly for $2. That was in 2010 though, not sure if they still do it.
We booked our other hotels last night. We're in Vegas for 12 nights (flying to LA, staying 2 nights, then 12 nights in Vegas then one more night in LA before flying home). Vegas itinerary is now:-
Green Valley Ranch (sun-tues) 2 nights - $160 for 2 nights - includes $50 dining credit and 2 cinema tickets
Rio (tues-fri) 3 nights $31.50 per night
Carriage House (fri-fri) 7 nights $560 approx total (incl tax)
This is the choice so far....
Out of these hotels we've only stayed at the Rio0 -

Gordon Ramsay Steak was quite an experience. It is open 5pm-10.30pm and was fully booked for 5 days ahead.
Very, very high service on a par with Alize.
The server brought a tablet to the table which was the cocktail and drinks list and you chose your drinks on there. The Strawberry Martini was lush.
Steaks range from $52 for filet mignon to $75 for Kobe beef to $105 for Porterhouse for 2 which we had. It was taken to the table once it was cooked then taken away to be sliced. Sides were $12 each and sauces $5. There was also chicken and fish and chips
Desserts were $12 each. My Banoffee tart was a disappointment as there was more pastry than bananas and toffee, but hubby's sticky toffee pudding was gorgeous.
Service was very slow, possibly as it was only the second night they were open and the place was mobbed. We were there for 2 hours.
The final bill was pretty high at well over $200 inc tip so might have to be a special occasion if we return or our only high end meal. We had 4 restaurant reservations before we arrived then added this one so we have splurged a bit on the food.0 -

Thankyou0 -

Ie. Switch was nice and quiet for us (and a bit gimicky) but the place felt 'open and spacious', whilst also secluded away (if that makes any sense at all)
On the other hand, we thought Henry's @ Cosmo was great food, and open, but not secluded (as people walk past all the time staring in cos its next to the entrance)
(where is it? the Paris property map doesn't seem to have been updated and I can't seem to see what it's replaced):

VALUE FOR MONEYGordon Ramsay replaced Les Artistes Steakhouse.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

WEATHERThanks again for this...we've decided to go for it for our last 3 nights as it's our 20th trip, we wanted to try Cosmo anyway...and it will make it a particularly special end to the trip.
so - yay! Thanks to you and all those who have posted about Cosmo - have been itching to try it for a bit.
It is a bit sad that the washer/dryer is what gave us the shove, isn't it?
Yaye! Glad you have decided to stay at the Cosmo - we loved it and can't wait to go back. I cant tell you how excited I was before going about the washer/dryer in room, I kept telling people who looked at me as if I was crazy for getting excited over a domestic applicance!
Have you checked the price with Virgin Holidays? Our 3 nights worked out the cheapest with them.Lucky wins - Rituals Beauty Advent Calendar; Starbucks Coffee & £20 Gift Card; Amazing Hen Weekend at Dunblane Hydro; Heat Magazine Book Bundle; Le Crueset Goodies :j
Wishing everyone some magic fairy pixie dust for luck!0 -
Thanks for that... interesting to have another option... I know it's down to interpretation but is the location and ambience enough to make it feel special?

Not sure about the location and ambience making it feel special. It wasn't as quiet as Switch, but there were only a few table occupied when we were at Switch whereas GRS was mobbed. It is secluded as you can only enter through the Tunnel which represents the Channel Tunnel between Paris and England.
Yes it's where Les Artistes was.
The service certainly made it feel special on a par with Alize.0
