The coach trips are *really* long and tiring-another option is to take a plane to the Canyon (all seats are window seats fantastic views) and then you road to the Canyon either by self drive jeep or Hummer-lunch at a ranch is included -we really enjoyed the trip-We left very early and were back by about 4 (pick up and drop at the hotel were included)

Which company did you go with?

I would like to do that but not sure which tour company to go with. Is the plane ride really bumpy? That puts me off but don't want to self drive or do a long coach ride but must visit the Canyon at least once :o. My work colleagues joke that I will only go if they put a slot machine there!

It was a while ago-I really can't remember (or find the confirmation). I'm pretty sure we found the tour with Expedia or Travelocity and then went to the company's own website to book it as it was much cheaper.

No it wasn't bumpy -in fact one of our group hates flying but the thought of the long coach trip was worse-and she commented how it really wasn't too bad and she'd enjoyed it more than our Virgin transatlantic flight.

Hi duchy * waves back* can i ask what the rough cost was ... i looked at the helicopter ride and wouldve loved to have done that but we cant afford it which is why i thought bus trip

we were origonally going to drive down there and stay for a few nights but accomadation seems to be cheaper in vegas so that's why we were thinking a bus trip

to let everyone understand we dont really have much money ( still trying to get out of debt) but we got free flights from one of the airlines that fly to vegas

we origonally wanted to go to south africa or china but we really couldnt afford that, i have a friend that lives in california that is going to put us up for nearly a week ... unfortunately we couldnt get a flight to san fransisco and had to land up with a flight to las vegas .... which i think works out for the best in the end as i would love to see the grand canyon but didnt realise the holiday was going to cost so much :(

the accomadation in yosemite park was £690 for 3 nights  .... and then there is death valley at i think £225 a night ... so las vegas is much cheaper ( even the expensive hotels are much cheaper) but things like drink and food could work out more expensive

Cosmopolitan Terrace Suites and Wraparound Suites have a washer / dryer in room! !

Thanks again for this...we've decided to go for it for our last 3 nights as it's our 20th trip, we wanted to try Cosmo anyway...and it will make it a particularly special end to the trip.

we did call to see if there were any discounts for players club members and seemed to work out at $30/night - so still way more expensive than lowcostusa...but I made some reference to London and she said there was a 20% international guests offer on their website...so rooted around (had to google) and found it...it may have been posted before (apologies if so)...it's a minimum 3 night stay.

    http://www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com/international-luxury.aspx?utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=cosmopolitan&utm_campaign=Search_row-sitelinks

Still not quite as good as lowcostusa, but closer...we're going to think about it but will probably book direct.

so - yay! Thanks to you and all those who have posted about Cosmo - have been itching to try it for a bit.

It is a bit sad that the washer/dryer is what gave us the shove, isn't it? ;)

Check out the reviews for the Orleans food and drink is MUCH cheaper there -and very good-and it's literally ten minutes by their free shuttle to mid strip -also has cinema, Irish bar with live music, 90 lanes of bowling and around 8 different resturants . The pool is big -lots of sunbeds. Rooms as I mentioned before are huge -not modern but well kept (sort of New Orleans/French style so not cutting edge). It's my budget priced hotel of choice in Vegas.

To give you an idea of prices for food (and how it can compare with On Strip hotels I've quoted the Paris buffet for comparison)

Orleans buffet (and it's very good)

discount off the website rate. For $30 a night total price I think we would possibly move there. ;)
