VALUE FOR MONEYBlindman - where can this Venetian promo be found? I'd like to check out what extras are on offer, and if it's available into September. Thanks.0

You're not going to like this then. We stayed there a couple of years ago and it's not a very good place. I really don't recommend it. Real issue with lounger hoggers around the pool, the hotel don't have enough loungers and it's the only place in Vegas that I've witnessed blatant lounger hogging. If you're going during pool weather please consider this carefully.
Darn , that is one of the main reasons we are going as well .... We want to lie by a pool for a few days and just relax after all the stress weve been under
Were really struggling to find a clean, comfy place were we can have basic kitchen facilities (fridge kettle etc) that doesnt have a theif problem ( was shocked at how bad it seems to be in vegas hotels) we dont mind paying a wee bit more but we are also aware that with the more expensive places like the Wynn and Venetian etc the prices for coffee etc is also more expensive
Were also looking for a pool ( preferably adults only ) were we can just relax ... One with a lazy river would be nice but i noticed either mgm or mandalay bay ( i cant remember which) charges for the the use of the rubber ring
I've been looking for over a week now and thought the desert rose might be the one .... Maybe not sigh0 -

VALUE FOR MONEYYou're going to struggle to find a place with a kitchen and lazy river. Only one I can think of is Signature.
Platinum is excellent, but has a very quiet pool. It's really nice though. Look it up. It's just behind Bally's, so although set back slightly more than Desert Rose it's definitely more mid-strip. Rates are relatively high though. We like their Princess Suite strip view, it also has a washing machine (solitaire suites don't).
This time we're going to try Carriage House. It's a favourite of Luci's. Pool looks quite small, and sun goes off it in the middle of the afternoon but that suits us fine. It also has kitchens.
Honestly, I don't know why Desert Rose gets such good reviews. Sunbathing is quite a challenge there, believe me. Thankfully we only stayed 4 nights and did our sunbathing elsewhere.0 -
Didnt' Desert Rose also have 'thievery' problems (of the credit card variety)...
TBH, I dont really pay attention to the claims of stuff being stolen when it comes to Vegas hotel rooms - though we usually use the safe, or if necessary lock things in our suitcase during the day - having said that, I know people that do neither and are fine.
Just the usual safety precautions0 -
SHOWSPool at the Orleans is nice and is no further from the centre Strip with the shuttle than Desert Rose-rooms are big with a seperate seating area and I *think* you can hire fridges-coffee makers in room -kettle might mean a trip to Walmart tho.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Went to Estiatorio Milos at the Cosmopolitan for their $20.12 3 course lunch today with Pebbles and Tony and very nice it was too.
Had a meet with a group from a Vegas forum I'm a member of and that was good too with about 12-14 people there.
Off to Gordon Ramsay Steak tonight.0 -

Was going to suggest a trip to Walmart for a coffee maker if coffee was a priority (as it is for us)...$9.96 for the cheapest model which is the one we always get - plus filters...we bring ground coffee from home because we know we like it and it's a small enough bag.
As for fridges, you can normally hire them for about $10/day or thereabouts...but last trip we left a $10 tip our first morning and a note asking if we might have a fridge and got one.
nvh - was thinking the same about Desert Rose and the CC issue...as for thefts from rooms, there's always the chance of a few bad eggs anywhere...but in general we don't worry about it, we don't use the safe even...never had any issues, hopefully never will...Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

CASINOSlol i did look at THEhotel ... but there were so many bad reviews about it ... i'm telling you one of the worst things i did was research all the hotels ... i was at it for hours on end
were thinking of the Desert Rose which is just off the strip
So you turned down ThHotel because of some bad reviews, and chose the Desert Rose?!
As mentioned before Platinum is a good choice, pool is never overcrowded even though it is small, and it's heated. PM me and I will put you in touch with the room manager who will give you a good rateThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0
