Pete “Big Elvis” Vallee, who has performed for thousands of people at Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon (formerly the Barbary Coast) for a decade has stunned his fans by announcing he’ll be moving to Harrah’s Las Vegas on May 3, 2012.

The final “Big Elvis” show at Bill’s will be April 30, 2012. Big news. Bigger talent. The Elvis tribute artist made the surprise announcement on his Facebook page, stating, “A chapter comes to a conclusion at Bill’s Hotel and Casino. Were moving to Harrah’s…if you’re coming out to see me, the show will be at the piano bar. Thank you, Bill’s, for 10 great years! Thanks to the fans and friends. Hope to see you at Harrah’s.”

Vallee’s show in the piano bar at Harrah’s will take place Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 2:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The new show will be, as it’s always been.

    He is a Vegas institution.

Can anyone offer any help, (I know I've read trip reviews about this on here but can't seem to find them) I'm looking at doing the LAX flights rather than direct then driving up to Vegas, Then staying in Los Angeles for two nights before driving down. Any advice re hotels in LA and the drive down?

    Thanks

We did this last year but stayed 3 nights in LA. it's all personal preference but we enjoyed our time in LA, did some shopping at the Beverly centre, watched a comedy show, went to Santa Monica, did Hollywood walk of fame and Griffith park where you can see the Hollywood sign. One thing to bear in mind is that driving from place to place in LA seems to take forever. We found a hotel on trip advisor that was very reasonable and and perfect for what we needed. It was pretty basic but had a lovely little restaurant/bar attached. The name escapes me but ill dig it out if you like.

The drive took roughly 4.5 hours, was dead easy and if you do it, definately stop at Peggy sues :)

LA is ENORMOUS so depends where you want to be.

We have stayed in a couple of Days inns.

1 fairly close to hollywood which was cheap and had free parking

1 in Pasadena, my fav have stayed there a couple of times and always had the pool and hot tub to ourselves

Also stayed in a radisson in buena park, very close to the entrance to knotts berry theme park

All have been very good and great value, all found on tripadvisor after deciding where want to stay.

Which part do you want to be close to as it can take hours to get from one side to the other

Another recomendation for stopping at Peggy Sues, the drive itself normally takes me about 5 hours

Looking at the Hollywood area so if you could point me in the direction of the days inn there that would be great

Also, past Peggy Sues, but before Vegas, is the Primm Outlet Mall (or FOLV as I think its officially called) - you cant miss it......you will see the roller coaster from about five miles away - which has the only Hollister Outlet Shop Ive ever come across. And its not dark and loud and cramped like normal Hollister shops.

The other shops there are pretty much the same as the North and South Premium outlets in Vegas......Juicy, Hilfiger etc.

I'm not a big fan of LA -too sprawley for me.
We decided to do a short sidetrip and had a night at Disney (hotel through Priceline and a bargain with name your own price) and the next morning drove to near the Chinese theatre and picked up the "House of the Stars " open top tour which took us past most of the sights and was enough. Rodeo Drive was close enough for a wander and that was more than enough for us. If we'd had an extra day we'd have gone to Santa Monica.
