    hello everyone :-)

I would like to go to LA we fly to vegas on 9th sept from manchester direct for 11nights.I have noticed a tour that takes you to LA for the day do you guys think it will be worth it?

If you want to go to LA you might be better to fly there for a day or two rather than sit in a bus all day, if your budget allows.

Southwest fly from Las Vegas to LAX about 10 times a day, flight time about 1hr. It's between $60-$100 to Lax and $57 back in Sept

Have you decided where you are staying yet Lesley?

You have plenty time to make up your mind, but the Carriage House currently have an offer on their website of 20% off a stay of 3 nights or more.

    Hi Luci

No, not booked any Vegas hotels yet. Did the first LA one, but that's all. I've got a wee table though with the rates for each night - Carriage House was only $79 on the deal on their website with 20%, however it's not a cancellable offer, so we have to be sure before we do it. I'd jump at the weekend nights, however we want to do GVR for 2 nights, preferably at the beginning. That leaves 3 nights before the weekend. Weekend until we go back to LA is 7 nights all in and I don't know if we want 7 nights at Carriage House. However, on the plus side the rooms have the mini kitchen, fridge etc, which does save a lot of hassle with keeping drinks cold which is a struggle at a hotel. That said, at the Orleans for example, we just buy the soft drinks daily so not an issue. Other hotels not so reasonable though, MGM for example want $3 for a 500ml bottle of coke!! Also we will need a washing machine by about then so it sounds like a good plan. I don't know if I can handle splitting down to 4 hotels in Vegas. Then it would be 2 nights LA, 2 nights GVR, 3 nights Rio (maybe), 4 nights Carriage House, 3 nights on strip. Luci, does Carriage House feel really off strip? Do you just walk every time (well unless you're really far north or south)?

Just don't know what to do :( There are some really good rates out there though. Won't be long for you now :j

Quite encouraging to see other people are doing LA. Will be good to hear what hotels you all choose and what you plan to see.

Forgot to add - Elara keeps coming up on my searches. We saw this place when we were in Miracle Mile last year - looks quite nice, but did look like quite a young crowd. Anyone stayed there? We're also quite tempted to try to stay at Cosmopolitan for a few nights, looks really nice.
  • Thanks for the info guys, I thought that it was a bit too much for just a day to LA just wanted to see what you lot thought.I think maybe next time we come to america we will do a proper week or so in LA, my cousins moving to california in sept so hopefully we can stay with them for abit.
Will look at the begining of the thread now i read from page 30 lol I may aswell read the begining.

The CH doesn't really feel of strip. It's only 5 mins walk to the back door at the Miracle Mile and less than 10 to the corner at Harley Davidson. It takes longer than that to get from your room in the MGM to outside.

If we are going to the MGM we go the back way (can't remember the street name) and in the back of the MGM where the monorail is or along Audrie to Bally's.

How is the CH non-cancellable? We have booked the 20% off offer and can still cancel up to 48 hours before arrival.

    Hi Luci

Thanks for the prompt reply and info. You are right, it is cancellable. I emailed your contact at CH about half an hour ago - waiting on a reply. My question was about room type. $575 total for the studio and $701 for the 1 bed suite. I am keen to know if the 1 bed suites have been renovated.

I've been reading reviews and some say the studios are small, small bathroom etc. In the pictures on the website it looks like the studios may be renovated and the 1 bed not renovated. However, I'm thinking I read that the 1 bed suites are being renovated up until September, so we would probably get a renovated one anyway.

What should we do? I think you said you always book the 1 bed suite. Is that right?

I'm also struggling to see if we have to pay in full (refund upon cancellation) or if we're just giving card details to secure the room. Do you know for sure?

We have always booked a one bedroom suite, probably because you get so much more room for your money compared to some other hotels. Maybe I should ask to see a standard room next time we are there.

If you book on their website then you pay a deposit. I have always phoned to book and they have never taken a deposit, just credit card details to guarantee the booking. We pay in full when we check out.

Lenora is usually pretty quick at getting back to you if she is on duty.

Thanks again Luci. :T Looks like we'll book, just need to decide on the room. Do you get a better deal when you phone, or do you get the 20% off sort of rate anyway? Just curious if I should try phoning instead to see what's on offer.

Some reviews say it's 2 or 3 minutes from Miracle Mile if you catch the lights, really not too bad at all. I did also read about a shortcut to MGM, but the reviewer didn't explain what the shortcut actually was, so that is useful too, thanks. I'm thinking it can't be too far to Ellis Island for a takeaway pizza either.
