No special occasion just love Vegas! Have been going for the last 12 years, used to find it strange people going back to the same resort somewhere in Europe year in year out, as I used to like visiting different places but i've now joined them! (except its Vegas).

It has everything we want....sun,golf,gambling,great food, cheap drinks,shopping...... probably not in that order!

Good luck for the proposal x

Contacted the Cosmo. They wanted $800 per night for a two bed suite (doesn't have a terrace).

Cheaper to book 3 x 1 bedroom suites on low cost USA.

Been going for past 13 years, best value for money destination ever IMO.

just back 3 weeks ago but may go again in september

regarding your bf proposal, he will know you are on edge now after reading your post ;)
  • haha I doubt hes sold me he loves my cooking too much, I maybe tempted to sell him though :D

Thank you been waiting 5years, im gonna look stupid if he doesnt propose lol.

I dont get why people go to the same place either like majorca theres nothing much there, from what people have said vegas sounds worth going back to time and time again and its in america so you can drive to other destinations too.

were going without our son whos nearly 9 i feel really bad but believe me we need a vacation, Im lucky to have a wonderful mum and sister who are going to take care of him.I hope to take him to disneyworld next year but the flights really daunting for us, im scared of flying and my son has disabilities and is still in a nappy so going on a long haul flight would be very challenging. but thats not going to stop me flying him anywhere Ive just got to deal with it.

Were flying for vegas from mancheter too on sunday 9th sept, going to pop my virgin cherry and first time to america cherry oh and first time ever abroad together cherry lol :D

We're going in September, which is a few weeks later than normal due to a friends wedding meaning we have to be in the UK when we would normally go (last few years we've gone in August and come back in September).

Have been a few times and sampled various times of the year - December, April, May and June so far, but August / September is certainly our favourite time to go.

Many things drag us back year on year, but include the range of hotels and the the fact that nearly everything is in the one area, however as you say, it's also really useful to grab a car and do other things like hit Death Valley, LA, San Fran and hopefully next year, San Diego

The weather can be pretty much a given (apart from last year unfortunately where it was warm but not really sunny), and the choice of food, drink, nightlife, that can offer all manner of budgets value for money is phenominal, even if the perceived value is now dampened / offset a bit due to flight prices. But, if the wife wants to drink champagne by the Lake of Dreams one night, and have a slice of Pizza the next night - she can, and we don't even have to wander out of the hotel - but if you did, there's a different range of options in the next hotel.

There are things we never tire of either, probably because they only seem to exist in such proximity in Vegas, or are 'almagamated / imitated' there - Bellagio Fountains, Eifel Tower and so on.

The other great thing about Vegas is it doesn't stand still - it genuinely tries to re-invent itself, constantly building, rebranding and evolving.

We first went just 6 years ago (2006), however in that time, we've seen Encore, Palazzo, Cosmopoliton open, a whole 'City Centre' complex has appeared where-as we only ever knew it as a building site. There is the creation of Town Square, the Hoover Dam bypass has been built (again, just the outskirts of a bridge when we first went I think) and there has been classics such as the Stardust that have been imploded, as well as the New Frontier (I regret not going in there as it closed shortly after our first visit.... and apparently it had mud wrestling haha).

Some marvellous feats of engineering, and if something isn't working, they're not scared to drag out the dynamite... look at the (seemingly) ever popular lions at MGM - they're replacing them now - there is no fear to change things or cling to the past.

....oh yeah, and there's casinos too - we likes a good (low limit) gamble a bit a of free booze ;):D

I genuinely hope you enjoy your time there - I'm not sure absolutely everyone does but the vast majority do, and you've made a great start by checking out this thread for sure - the amount of people that have been, not been too taken then found this thread and re-visited and really enjoyed themselves seems fairly high :)

Endorse everything you said nvh, except the mud wrestling, it is a bit passe especially after seeing jello wrestling in Reno.
