Never valet parked at Vdara, but most are similar.
Pull into valet lane (sometimes they will wave you over/forward).
Turn off car, leave keys in ignitition.
Get out.
Get ticket from valet.
Go on your way.
Or if you have bags and want help, they will get a bellman over.
When you go to collect the car, take the ticket to the desk (will be marked).
Wait.
Get in your car.
That's it.
You do not keep the keys.
We normally tip $3 or so, when we collect...some tip at drop-off and collect.
I would advise against doing this. Cars are stolen from here in this manner. Crooks are waiting for the cars to pull in, watching those in a rush who just leave the keys in the car and hey presto they run up jump in the car and take off . So always take your keys with you and hand to the valet to get your ticket.0 -

Thats not my experience, the valet guys always tell me to leave the keys in the ignition and even if on occasion I have taken them out, the valet puts them straight back in. Of course this applies when the valet is waiting for you, I have never left my car without seeing a valet first
Ferfs listing is exactly how it happens every time for me0 -
Hi everyone been having a read on this thread and have to say its brilliant! Off to Vegas in May for a week as part of our holidays. Just a quick question, we usually goto Florida and have used Walgreens loads of times, are the Walgreens on the strip significantly more expensive. There are 3 of us myself, hubbie and daughter and we drink lots of water and soft drinks, was also looking to buy some snacks milk and maybe toast and cereal. Is it worth taking a trip on bus to Vons or will Walgreens suffice?
Ps I'm staying at the MGM signature.0 -
We are off to the Desert Rose Resort next month for our first visit to Las Vegas.
Have anyone advice as to which are the best rooms to go for?
We would like one which gets the sun, and has views over the strip, does anyone know if this is possible?
Is it worth doing the '$20 trick' when booking in to try to get a better room?
Looking on tripadvisor all I can gather is it's best to have a room on an upper floor.
Many thanks

Thanks, I should probably have stated that by 'get out' I meant 'get out and stand next to the car - normally me on driver's side, hubby on passenger side until approached by a valet'...it's not like we wander off and do some shopping in the interim...we're right there.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Get one right near the gate to the pool. That way when they unlock the gates you can pounce a put your towels out then go back to bed. :rotfl:
Seriously, I don't think there are any particular 'best rooms', yes, maybe a higher floor. We saw people sitting on a balcony overlooking the front. Not sure if it would be noisy at night near the front car park. They certainly got a good view of everyone coming and going. We had a view of the side car park was quiet anyway.0 -
Staying at the vdara (most likely) and you have to have valet parking.
If you would prefer to self park.
We have just returned from Vdara, we self-parked in Aria.
To reach the Vdara lobby we took the elevator to the internal pedestrian bridge to Aria hotel from Aria parking garage.
Walked out of Aria by the exit near Jean Philippe Patisserie, across the footpath which leads straight into Vdara lobby.
Takes about three minutes.
Alternatively, we could have parked in Bellagio.0 -
Thanks Wendell and I quite fancy someone else parking up and fetching the car0

HOTELSHi
Visiting Vegas (for the 4th time) 1st weekend in June. :j
This time, though I will have a car for the duration (part of a 3 week USA road trip)
What's peoples experiences on finding (free) parking when say visiting Downtown for a few hours ? or areas around say Luxor or Stratosphere?
I'm chauffering my Bro-In law (his first time) and we're staying at the Palazzo.
He's not that able bodied so if we all go out together I'll probably be driving\parking.0 -

Many of the downtown garages are free with validation (you just punch your ticket in a machine at participating casinos - normally near the cage).
Both Luxor and Strat have free self parking (pretty much everywhere does)...Luxor seems like it's a bit of a haul to walk back to the casino so may depened on how your brother-in-law is feeling...valet is nearly free and may be the better option if someone has difficulty walking.
Sometimes the property map gives a good idea of how the self-park sits in relation to the property itself.
