Staying at the vdara (most likely) and you have to have valet parking.

What's the procedure with this kind of thing?

Hand keys to car to the parking chap and what happens then?

He returns a few minutes later and returns keys? does he give you a receipt? does he give you a receipt for the car and the keys?

And then asking for the car back? Never experienced it, but I bet the regulars have.

What kind of tip do you offer and when? when you drop the car off or ask for it to be retrieved or both?

Ah ok. According to the link posted earlier for Vegas Chatter the Walgreens had a rather large walk-in beer fridge :rotfl:. Sounds good to me.

Any recommended stores near MGM/The Signature then?

Yeah there is a big walk-in beer fridge, I was in it last week. I got so cold that I had to rush my decision haha, went for 2 x 24 crates of PBR as a throwback to my North Carolina college days :p

Near MGM is a much better place for alcohol, just walk east on Tropicana about one block and you'll see a gas station. It's much cheaper than any booze on the strip. Only pain in the !!!! is carrying crates back along Tropicana under the boiling sun! Go in the evening maybe.

Hand keys to parking chap and receive a chit in return. He keeps keys.

When you want the car back, give him the chit and he will bring the car to you.

When he brings the car back, I give a couple of dollars.

Never valet parked at Vdara, but most are similar.

Pull into valet lane (sometimes they will wave you over/forward).

Turn off car, leave keys in ignitition.

    Get out.

    Get ticket from valet.

    Go on your way.

Or if you have bags and want help, they will get a bellman over.

When you go to collect the car, take the ticket to the desk (will be marked).

    Wait.

    Get in your car.

    That's it.

You do not keep the keys.

We normally tip $3 or so, when we collect...some tip at drop-off and collect.

We stayed at the Signature last year and probably will again this year. We were happy with the ABC store in Miracle Mile and The big Walgreens/CVS (I forget which one even after only just reading this thread!).

We dont cook while we are there though but from those places you can get plenty of drinks (soft and alcoholic), fresh juice for the morning, bread for toast etc. We mainly use the fridge in our room for lunches, which are usually left overs in a takeaway box from whereever we have eaten the night before! I dont think the Junior Suite in the Sig can handle much more than that, I wouldnt want to be cooking a full on meal then sleeping in the cooking smell afterwards! We just like the bigger room and use of fridge. Once last time we got a pizza from somewhere and ate that too.

Not for everyone but we mainly go to vegas for the sun during the day so are happy to have a couple of nights in or just have a subway or something in the evening. I could watch US tv all night every night, especially from the bath in the hotel so im happy!

Obviously yes! I had opened the link and read it, but when I went back to the tab a while later, I thought I had opened it from another Vegas site I visit.

    Humblest apologies.

I'm away to read it now, hadn't heard of it before.

Walgreens isn't a supermarket. Perhaps you're thinking of Walmart

There are a couple of Walgreens and CVS on the strip where you can get drinks and snacks, but they are like large pharmacies, not supermarkets.

Yes, Walgreens and CVS are big pharmacies, but sell quite a bit of food, depending what you are after. On the strip though you will find them overpriced. They're ok for some coke or crisps etc, but if you are looking for bread, orange juice, or anything substantial they will be expensive. That said, closest proper supermarkets are out maybe Maryland Parkway area I'd say, and would cost you $10-$15 in a taxi easily. You could take the bus east along Tropicana to Walmart, but you could waste a fair bit of time.

If you have a car, you'll find a few places when you are out and about.

Talking of alcohol, any decent hard ciders over there? I like dry cider, the drier the better. If so where to get some?

I'm guessing Mike's Hard Lemonade isn't going to fit the bill? :)
