many places will allow a cash deposit...pretty sure that someone here stayed there after the issues started and were able to leave a cash deposit.

I think it was Triker and really rated it, I seem to remember the free starbucks coffee being a big bonus for them.

There are no supermarkets within walking distance of the MGM. However there is an ABC store where you can get drinks and snacks.

There is a food court just up from the MGM at Showcase Mall which has a Panda Express, Wendy's, Subway and a few other places. There is also a La Salsa Cantina just up from there which isn't expensive and then a Denny's on the corner opposite the Monte Carlo.

We have always found the MGM buffet to be very good although others haven't rated it.

It looks like there's a Walgreens at 3765 Las Vegas Blvd which is about 0.5 miles from the MGM. Might be worth a look? We'll be after a supermarket or similar for our stay at The Signature at MGM in May.

Walgreens isn't a supermarket. Perhaps you're thinking of Walmart

There are a couple of Walgreens and CVS on the strip where you can get drinks and snacks, but they are like large pharmacies, not supermarkets.

Can anyone tell me whether hotels will allow you to check luggage in for the day? Our car hire depends on us returning the vehicle at 10am, then we have a 9pm flight. Don't want to be walking around Vegas all day with our luggage!

Concierge will usually let you do this....Im sure a $5 tip would convince him.

Why not see if your airline will let you check it in at the airport just before you return the car? Or the airline may have a check-in facility at your hotel which would also work.

    VALUE FOR MONEY
depending on what someone is after Walgreens could work - they are pretty big shops with a big variety of nibbles (snackery!) and drinks and stuff...not so much on the fresh food side of things but some (we have gotten french vanilla coffee creamer from the chiller cabinet there, handy!)...we always have a car so normally hit one of the WalMarts in the area...there's a Vons on Tropicana and various others which I'm sure would be accessible by bus somehow if necessary.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

certainly can, just ask concierge or the front desk when you check out - it's not a service i've ever had to pay for, but will tip the bellhop. much like when you check-in and they take bags to your room, they'll give you a ticket, you can wander off for the day and collect them whenever you're ready :)

Ah ok. According to the link posted earlier for Vegas Chatter the Walgreens had a rather large walk-in beer fridge :rotfl:. Sounds good to me.

Any recommended stores near MGM/The Signature then?
