Thanks for the Primm tips. We're stopping there as we're coming from LA anyway, and not much point paying £100 for a night (staying at the cosmo) if we're going to get there late. Plus we want to go to the mall at Primm anyway, so makes sense.

The cosmopolitan seems very popular on here. How much difference is there between the city rooms and terrace studios? Its about an extra £15 per night, which doesn't seem extortionate. And whats the chance of an upgrade? Does the $20 tip work there - I would have thought probably not?

Hi there, i used the $20 tip at the Cosmo and got the upgrade from city room to terrace suite, was on the 37th floor great view of the fountains , lovley hotel

when we were at cosmopolitan last year the girl at check in wasnt interested in a room upgrade unless it was a paid for upgrade at $25 a night. didnt actually think it was that bad so paid to upgrade to the terrace overlooking the fountains.

staying there again at the end of the month so will see what it takes this time to get a terrace suite

At some point I'll do a summary of our trip, but we did finally try Hash House A Go Go (IP location) for breakfast - we did have a $10 r.com voucher good for breakfast or lunch only.

Hubby had the House Hash with (stolen from the menu) Roasted Chicken, garlic, onions, asparagus and rosemary (Tossed with crispy potatoes & topped w/ 2 eggs, served with fruit and biscuit)
And I had the Farm Benedict with Andy's sage fried chicken w/ fresh spinach, hardwood smoked bacon, market tomato, griddled mozzarella, chipotle cream and scrambled eggs (All Benedicts served on a fresh split biscuit with griddled mashed potatoes)

Mine as featured on Man vs Food

LOVED it...not sure I even managed to finish even half of it, hard to tell once it lost structural integrity...the chipotle cream made it for me.

I was surprised how big the place was, really...we're not big fans of IP overall, just don't seem to find much of interest there for us, but will be back for this I would expect...it was quite busy when we arrived about 9:30 on a Friday morning with a wait for a table unless you were platinum or higher with Total Rewards.

And found out this trip that at least PF Chang's at PH and Toby Keith's at Harrah's both now accept Total Rewards points - they didn't use to...Toby Keith's has slight price reductions for TR members on the menu...and HHAGG as well took TR points (not sure if they did before or not, but it used to be restaurants not owned by CET didn't accept points)...we had a lot of TR to use from a promotion we did last trip, so it was nice to be able to use them places we would have gone anyway without having to charge to our room first.

We had a BOGO for HHAGG. We must have gone at a bad time.

Our voucher was for lunch between 1 and 4 pm. We both had a burger of some description, can't remember the actual items. We were impressed by the quantity, but the quality was just OK. The thing that put us off were dirty walls in our booth, and a table with salt all over it that wasn't cleaned before we were served our meals. I could possibly understand the oversight if it was busy, but it wasn't, and a couple of parties were seated and then left before they even got menus.

I sent them an email to let them know what we thought, so hopefully, the cleanliness issues have been addressed.

Is there a reason not to do it through Marriot.co.uk and so they will take 25% of the virgin rate in £?

There is 1 reason, their staff are completely inept!! I am currently conversing with them about a claim using Lowcostusa as the comparison, they are completely refusing to accept the rate i have for my dates and room and are telling me the only rate they can find is over £400 dearer and is not a rate that shows for any room in the cosmopolitan! I smell something fishy to be honest that they dont want to honour the deal, they are also refusing to review the claim so looks like i will be cancelling my booking with them, oh well!

I had a similar issue - they didn't match the rate I found on Virgin, which was at the time, but no longer is, available. I was thinking of pointing them to the lowcostusa rate instead. But if what you are saying is true then I think I might just cancel..

on price matching for hotels, I have no idea if it was a one-off, mis-price, or what...but we found a crazy rate at www.getaroom.com for the Hilton at O'Hare - the one with the underground walk-way to the airport, crazy...but getaroom.com get horrid reviews so no way was I going to risk not having a hotel the night before our flight...thanks to a post by Vikki I remembered the Hilton has a best rate guarantee...so tried it fully expecting it to be rejected, but no...$279 booked direct amended to $91.42 or something like that...something completely ridiculous. I was suppsoed to get a $50 AmEx gift card too, but never did and could never bring myself to chase it.

so may be worth putting getaroom.com on the list for comparing...again, maybe a one-off glitch, but worth looking at...you can also toggle between currencies which can be helpful when comparing to US hotel sites.

Is it worth me joining the Total Rewards Scheme? I will probably only do a one off trip to Las Vegas, but the Flamingo Hotel is part of the Ceasers group so I was wondering whether its worth it to get the points for the booking?

    Anyone used travelbag.co.uk or quickrooms?

They have low prices for the vdara which include resort fees for the dates I want in October.
