  • Hi gang! well I crumbled today and bought my first "things" - of course apart from groceries, smoking & the sewing machine! I purchased 4 xmas gifts for my oh & ds - I have never done that before! Cost to me was £39 but RRP was £111! Also got a top for myself off of Ebay. Ha ha ha couldn't even get to the end of the month without a purchase!

But am justifying to myself that the presents will save me money in the long run so some of my xmas present savings will stay in the savings pot!

A part from spending that Christmas money and that one visit to the charity shops my 'thing' shopping has been non existent.

I think I may have been having a funny turn with a couple of my Christmas money purchases though!

Just one minor spend, £3.50 in Primark, for a top to go under a jumper my mum bought me. I went to look for the 3rd time (!) at the coat I wanted in there but must be a sign as they had moved them to a high rack so I couldn't reach it!!! That stopped me as I may have got it today!

However, when I look at what I spent last year, none of it made that much difference to my life - and I am more determined now to not spend on small bits and eventually do things that would make a difference..

    Hi folks,

Just popping in to let you know that I'm still here :rotfl: and that I'm still following the thread and still doing the No Spending Challenge.

I've had one non-essential spend, although it was budgeted for, which was a meal out with my hubby and our son. We don't often get chance to spend quality time together because of work committments and so I'm not feeling guilty, and I don't have buyer's remorse, so it's one spend that I'm happy to have done.

Other than the meal out I haven't had any other un-necessary spends and I've kept withinn all my budgets so far. :T

Well done everybody with your challenge, and for still being here, we've passed the date that new resolutions are usually ditched by.

Hi guys I have another confession - not doing so well am I???? I received another massive bunch of flowers from my leaving lunch yesterday - on Monday I was given a massive bunch and the 2 small vases I own & two single flower vases are already full as well as a pint glass! - so when I was in town I bought a vase. Then I also bought a pack of 12 glasses. I've been on a right clumsy spree this last month and have broken all but one of our wine glasses and several others :o I did um and ah for a while but decided to get them as we have a dinner party on Thursday. I could have served drinks in mugs but didn't think that would have the ambience I am after! Still though a little disappointed in myself :(

I was given a £65 voucher for fenwicks and had a look in there but as I was looking around I realised there is nothing I need or even want at the moment. I did consider buying the glasses and vase in there but the price was ridiculous!

So resolved to not buy anything over the weekend at least - shocking when you have to resolve to not buying anything for 2 days isn't it? Is there any hope for me???

    stay strong guys :A

Well it sounds to be like your vase and glasses were a necessity so don't be hard on yourself Ms Determined.

Good luck in your new job! X

    Well done Kerfuffle!
