No non-essential spending today, just bread, milk, frozen veg and oven chips! i have been using up freezer bits for dinners and can continue to do so for quite a while. The frozen veg is to prevent me having to enter shops frequently to buy fresh. It should work! I am even talking myself out of the Boots sale. I have so much stuff already and really cannot justify anymore. Things are looking up, lets hope I can keep my wits about me for a few weeks at least to save some money.
I am the same Ruby Tuesday - too much frugality and I rebel with style! That's what has happened over the past couple of years really - after many frugal years, a massive spendathon that now must end! I have vowed not to buy any new clothes as I have put on weight and want to lose it. If I lose it I have a wardrobeful of beautiful clothes to wear so no need to go shopping for more. Sounds easy..................... (famous last words?)0 -

I've found another that I don't think has been mentioned: http://www.everydayminimalist.com/ I've spent the last 2 evenings reading this one! Its really helping to stop my buying urges"Adoption Loss is the only trauma in the world where the victims are expected by the whole of society to be grateful" - The Reverend Keith C. Griffith, MBE0 -

I'm re-reading it at the moment - but in small chunks. I don't always share her political views (or her lifestyle), but it does get me to think about my own situation. I regularly dip into the "Tightwad Gazette" - that always challenges and encourages me.0 -

First spend of the year - Boots 75% sale. I spent £17 on 3 presents for my family. I know I was going to do handmade gifts but I kind of thought I need a few backup/emergency pressies.
I also have another confession to make. I went shopping for a new dining table as mine is so shabby and the chairs are uncomfortable. The one I fell in love with was £700 - my mum offered to lend me the money and was pushing me to buy it, I was so tempted. Anyway I came home to cool off and decided that my old table wasn't so bad. I got my sander out and give it a rub down and oiled it - it looked like new again. I then started on the chairs, rubbed them right down and oiled. My sister gave me some wonderful thick fabric and I spent this evening recovering them. They look fab! Going to make some seat pads for them and matching runner. Makes me feel better about the £17 boots spend. hehe.0 -
