week 1 of 52:
Beginning of the week started with a freebee! we all love thoseit was the girl with the tattoo book which someone posted the link for it on anther page. Thank you!
.... Found myself at the beginning of the week in the morning looking at the lighting deals on amazon, Us humans are very much creature's of habit...... I've joined the readandswap site, already added books and got offers already..... Still getting parsals through from December sales and im starting to feel abit glum :embarasse about it, its like why have I ordered so much, do i need this?... .I know its only week 1 but really started to realise how much time i spend on the computer searching for deals and the money, oh the amount of money i spend. why is it a good deal if end up spending alot?... The grabit thread i've had avoided at the beginning of the week, im ok with a quick look now just to see if there's any freebees im also checking the freebee and shopping thread too...... Got into the habit of deleting the sale/shop emails as they pop into my in box and making shore if there's any competitions before deleting them.
So far i've spend £6 this week. which was monkey meds, toothpaste and food. Thats one weeks shop, 5 items. :A
Wonna thank all of you who have decided to join the post and join in. I have been thanking and reading the posts when I get to have a cuppa some great ideas on here. :T I have notice that we all have slightly diffident rules hopefully we all get to save. Keep up the good work! :beer:0 -
^^ It's hard, sales stuff, seems good idea at the time but then I always wonder when things arrive whether I should have got them if they aren't essential...
I have spent a little this week, had a vet's bill/little bit in the supermarket but essentials only, and a few little bits in the sales online, no more than say a tenner on some trad xmas decs/diary/notebooks I didn't need..
Today I resisted a coat and jumper in Primark, told myself it was tat quality but they both really suited me and I'm struggling with not going back to get them and loved a cardigan and top in DP but put it back when I saw it was made in China. Hmm, still want them all though.. Resisted a skirt in M&S but again would be ideal for my next job.
The grabbit board is lethal but I love it. However, I also spend too much time online looking for best deals and that is a waste too, I want to spend more time doing things this year so I will have to curtail this..
I love picking up tips and ideas from others on here0 -
Another NSD for me although I was nearly having palpitations going past the charity shops with their stocked rails on the bus! Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Evening all, can I sign the pledge please?
Reduced circumstances has made me more determined than ever to knock my poor attitude to spending on the head. I Really need to get a handle on resisting the temptation to spend unecessarily. I started 2011 really well then went wild in June and just didnt really stop. Charity shops, ebay and amazon seem to be my downfall at the moment. I had a kindle for my birthday after giving away 90% of my books. I have bought about 80 e-books in 3 months - loads more than ever before, partly compounded by our library now operating on reduced hours (poor excuse).
I have already pledged to only spend £100 on clothes for the year - my wardrobes are currently bursting, as is my shoe stash. I am trying to train myself to want less, and not give in so easily to my wants.
I am sure with support on this board we can all achieve our targets. Everyone has started so positively so far which is a real inspiration- lets keep it up.
With the support of MSE I gave up cigarettes and alcohol last year, so firmly believe in the power of supporting each other.
Good luck y'all

welcome darwins_mum  lovely to have another MSEr join the merry band of no-spenders :T - I'm not on commission honest gov- but if you have any inclination to read up on minimalism (the links I gave a couple of posts ago are really the best ones I have come across that really give you food for thought and have definitely curbed my desire for stuff. Although as I say its a continual process, I definitely fall off of the wagon every couple of months. I'm in the crazy clothes challenge too and really liked the idea about "freedom days" where once a month or so you wear something out of your wardrobe that you wouldn't normally wear.
So today was a spendy day as after a hard week I went to the pub with oh. Spent £7.50. Also spent £1.20 on parking as I have a regular appt on Friday's. Usually I park out of town for free and have a 10min walk to the appt, but today I got held up at work so was 10mins late so parked round the cornerI also bought some tobacco £8 - really struggling with giving up smoking at the moment - no judgements please... - am going to the gp on Monday...
Am going into town with my BFF tomorrow as she has some vouchers to spend. Gonna be tough :undecided but I have a freebie voucher for some fancy bathroom stuff (can't even remember what its for!) so hoping that will satisfy my need for stuff & if worst comes to worst I have £16 on my boots card. Should be able to come out unscaved! Hopefully going to the inlaws for dinner tomorrow :TDF as at 30/12/16

Hi Peeps,
I've been catching up on the posts and there's lots of really interesting tips etc, I've written down the web addresses for living minimalist and I'll take a look at those later, so thanks guys for all those.
But I do have one burning question, what is a 'Turkish Breakfast'? :rotfl:The only thing I can think of is it's a breakfast at the Turkish Baths.

There's a lot of rubbish available but I've found some good books too :T"Adoption Loss is the only trauma in the world where the victims are expected by the whole of society to be grateful" - The Reverend Keith C. Griffith, MBE0 -
Thank you Lady Tara, I shall have a good look this afternoon.
