Ok, I know why I am feeling so miserable and hopeless! ....my lady time has just arrived. Am now doubled over with cramps and feeling sorry for myself, but at least that explains it!
I also did that BMR calculator thing and came out at needing something like 1500 cals a day if totally sedentary, like laying down all day. That doesn't seem right to me as I am very short, it seems too much! Nutracheck has me on 1200 a day and I will stick to that. Speaking of which, today's food...
B - 2 slices raisin bread, tea
L - steamed leeks, some plain soya yogurt with raspberries
D - (will be) vegetable stir fry with a bit of lean steak in it
This takes me to 974 cals today (including a few cups of tea) so I will see how I feel after dinner and will maybe have some fruit if I'm hungry. I might try and save the calories though as I am going to my menu tasting for my wedding tomorrow night, which will be a bit of a diet disaster!0 -

Thanks for this Mrs_T_M, I had drastically cut down my calories for first couple of weeks , but wasn't sure exactly how many I should be having, bearing in mind I have a lot of weight to use, looks like I can have an extra 300 per day.
Don't feel like I have lost much this week, even though I've stuck to it fairly well - will find out Friday, so still a couple of days to make a difference.
Thanks again.:T 2015 TARGETS :TWeight loss 12.5/112lb 18th feb -4.5lb, 25th feb -2.5lb, 4th mar -2.5, 11th Mar -3,

Hi Twigglet, Just like the previous posts, I would also say that your body will go into starvation mode as it thinks there is a famine..
Honestly, if you eat sensibly and cut out all the carp, you'll lose weight, but you have to eat to have the energy to do that.. I'm due to get weighed on the wii tomorrow and I bet the weight is still falling off me.. and that's just with cutting out biscuits, sweets and all that.. :A I prefer just to have one main meal a day and one other light meal such as soup or a sandwich.. and that's what suits me but not necessary anyone else.. so what you could do is just eat what you know is healthy, stop eating when you are full.. and watch the amounts you put on your plate.. :A
I know what I am talking about cause I have been dieting all my life and have made every mistake in the book..and been on every diet known to man and they don't work ...
I've realised that it is my eating habits that I have to change so that's what I am trying to do.. :j I have stones and stones to lose so a 'quick fix' isn't going to work.. I have to try and stop using food as an emotional crutch, as a reward and to eat just because it's there on the table or in the fridge... or eat it rather than throw it in the bin !!! :A
It won't be easy, but we are all here to help each other and give support when needed.. :beer:0 -
Hi All,
I'm a bit late today, but I am in the middle of doing the vat for a local charity that I volunteer for and time just rushed by ...
Today, I made a beef casserole in the slow cooker but I never got a chance to eat it so it'll keep until tomorrow.. It was just a mixture of diced beef browned with one chopped up onion, 2 carrots, 1 stick of celery, a handful of salad potatoes (unpeeled) a dollop of tomato ketchup, brown sauce and a crumbled oxo cube with enough stock (water & wine) to come halfway up.. - cooked it for 8 hours on low..
I'll catch up with you all tomorrow... If everything balances in the Cash Book....0 -

I tried the calculator as well - mine said around 1500 calories, because I can do little or no exercise just now.
What I find really interesting is the way advice has changed over the years. In the eighties when I wanted to lose weight (and looking back, I only ever wanted to lose 4 or 5 pounds, I should have just relaxed, wish that's all I needed to lose now!) we had no internet and all our info came from magazines. I can remember quite clearly that the information was to reduce daily calories to 1000, and the diets they printed were for 1000 calories.
So back then, fairly active and 1000 calories...now no activity and 1500 calories. Who's right? It's certainly hard to change my way of thinking that I learned all those years ago. I tend to "diet" like office guru, cut out the carp and eat healthier foods, and only do a very rough calorie count in my head.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0
