Have you actually calculated your BMR and total daily energy expenditure? It sounds like you're not eating enough, and there is hardly any protein in your meals (except for dinner). Try adding a bit of protein to breakfast and eat more at lunch to see if it helps. Fill up on low calorie veggies and some fruit, then add protein and carbs for last. Don't go without the carbs though, as they are important.

Many people find out that they aren't even eating their BMR (which is the absolute minimum your body needs to survive) thus throwing them into starvation mode. The 1200 calorie minimum for women is based on a 120 pound woman btw. At minimum, you should be eating your BMR, otherwise your body will fight to hang onto every scrap it can.

:grouphug: You can do this! Remember, we are all in it together. :)

Oh I am feeling all stressed and worried about this today.

As some of you may know I am getting married at the start of April and really wanted to lose a load of weight by then :(

But looking at my diary over the next couple of months there are going to be sooooo many difficult eating/drinking occasions in the lead-up to the wedding. Starting with our menu and wine tasting evening at our venue tomorrow!

I know I have to do my best, make sensible choices and limit the damage as much as possible. I know it is possible.

I also have my first dress fitting booked for the first week in February and I am so worried they are going to tell me I can't lose any more weight after that.

If I have to get married looking the way I do now I'll have half a mind to call the whole thing off!!!! :( I really, really, really, really, really, really, really didn't want to be a fat bride but now I will be....and it is no one's fault but mine.

    Sorry, self-pitying rant over!

Off to do an exercise video....
  • It must be a self pitying day today.

Big huggs daisiegg you will do it :)

Before you read this, note I am not a dietitian, nor a doctor. I have researched heavily in this subject and have two bachelors degrees (one in Biology and one in Chemistry). I will not do anything myself that I haven't researched thoroughly. Do your own research on this and other things and make an educated decision to do what is best for you. What is right for you may not be right for me, and vice versa.

Your BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate. It's what your body expends calorie wise if you were to stay in bed all day long and do nothing. This is essentially the minimum that you need to survive without wreaking havoc on your organs and body processes. (Note: short term dieting and going below bmr for a short while is usually ok, it's when someone tries to stay below bmr for months or years that the health problems will creep up). A good calculator that I've found can be found at: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/bmr/

It takes your age, gender, height, and current weight into account. On this one, put your current weight into the current AND the goal weight to get an accurate representation of what your BMR is.

    Here is mine filled in:
    bmr1.png

Once you click submit, scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find a table like this (this one is mine):
    bmr2.png

I am lightly active due to the fact that 2 days per week I do housework for most of the day and 1 day per week I go out. Doesn't matter where, I just get out of the house and walk. I should be eating 2823 calories for my height and weight. If I calculate my TDEE (http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html), I can see that my tdee is 2820. Mine are nearly identical in numbers because I'm so overweight.

    tdee.png

I am currently eating at 2250 calories (approximately tdee minus 20%). I do this every day except Saturdays, when I am allowed to have whatever I want, and however much I want (so if I want an order of fish and chips that totals in at 951 calories for a small order of chips and 296 calories for a small piece of battered cod, as well as 229 calories for a battered sausage, I can have it on Saturday).

This amount is close enough to my BMR that my body doesn't feel starved and once per week I'm letting it have whatever it's been craving. It's working quite well so far. Apart from normal fluid weight fluctuations since I'm female, I've lost 10.6 pounds since Boxing Day. It might be slower than some people want, but it's a loss, plus I feel that I can not only lose the 10 stone 2.4 pounds I've got left to lose, I feel like I can also keep it off like this.

Don't forget to recalculate your bmr and tdee every two weeks or after a loss of 10-15 pounds.

Again, do your own research, and if you have any questions, do not be afraid to visit or call your gp. They are there to help you!

Oh, forgot to mention on my last post: drink your water!!! It depends on how much you weigh as to how much water your body needs every day.

Go up in your water consumption gradually and if you hit a wall on the amount you can handle, stop there. Also, don't try and drink all of your water right before bed or with dinner just to get it in for the day. That's a quick way to end up in the hospital!

I weigh 283.5 as of this morning. Divide that by 2 and you get 141.75. I'll round up to 142 for ease. This is how many fluid ounces of water (or tea or decaff coffee) I should be drinking every day. Squash and fruit juices count too, just watch the sugar content. The reason for decaff: caffeine is a diuretic, which makes you pee more! The caffeine is useful during that time of the month for us ladies to help keep the bloating and fluid retention down though.

Anyway, I should be drinking 142 ounces of water per day, which is around 4.2 litres of water per day. Now, as my weight goes down, so can my water intake. Drinking enough water helps your body break down those fat stores and get them out of your body (not to mention it can cure most headaches, since most of them are caused by dehydration anyway).

A few tips if you don't like the taste of water or if you just want to have something different:
    drink though a straw.
Add a bit of fruit juice (no added sugar please)
Squeeze in a lemon or lime wedge
Put it in the fridge first (this will cause your body to burn more calories to warm it as well - barely, but they add up)

I'm at 80 fluid ounces so far today, leaving 62 for me to still get by dinner time. I know that I probably won't reach that today. I'm ok with that. I also know that if I don't stop drinking fluids by 7 pm, I'll be running to the toilet every hour while I'm trying to sleep!

Well a big shake up for me too, I must get back on the wagon but this awful weather is making me eat like a honey monster!

My BMR is almost the same as yours twigglet- 1388, many thanks
to Mrs T M for the calculator.

I have had a disastrous day so far, had
    B rice krispies and OJ
L a huge slice of lovely pepperoni pizza
D paprika chicken with cabbage and a jacket potato
S This is more like a confession- 8 marshmallows looked on the bag and they are 25 cals each - no fat though haha :rotfl:

No exercise whatsoever except some housework but tomorrow
I am going out walking with my friend, will do at least 4 miles
will probably seem like 10 in this snow! Let's hope I manage to stay on my feet.

And daisiegg big hugs you can do it we're all here for you.
