  • Bad start I'm afraid. 2lb gain!! I'm quite surprised since I have upped my exercise this week - I did half hour of Just Dance game and 2 45min sessions on Zumba game which apparently burns 450(ish) cals per time. Very disappointed as I thought that exercise would make a big difference and ususally I hardly do anything - apart from hours walking for commute.

Have been using MFP to count cals and have only gone over on a couple of days - and not by masses. I think I'm coming down with something too :0(

Feeling very sorry for myself and a bit of a blow to my motivation to exercise.

    Morning all :)

    B - spicy fruit porridge
D - beef stew, dumpling, mash
    T - hm broccoli & Stilton soup
S - grapes, satsuma, apple, melon

Was going to go to my Sunday lunchtime meeting with friends but my square is solid ice and has been snowing on top of that for the last 4/5 hours. Not been out or seen anyone since Wednesday and no knowing when I will be able to, so now I know what it feels like to be housebound! I'm fortunate I have family and neighbours but there are so many older people who have nobody. Please just check they're okay :)

    Stay warm and safe. S

Oh I know this feeling from the past, but DONT let it affect your exercise. Keep up the good work already done!:T

  • How much weight of dry porridge is a portion? I just cook it with water and then add 1 tsp of sugar. I can hear you saying yuk!

I've never weighed it before cooking but measure mine in mugs, 2 mugs porridge oats to 5 mugs boiling water, then cook with allspice or cinnamon and a handful of dried fruit. I weigh it cooked, 6 oz per container, before freezing, then add a little sk milk when defrosted/heated. It shouldn't need sweetener that way as the spice and fruit do it for you. hth

Exactly how I make mine, well sometimes I put honey in. Sometime fruit pur!e just depends.

A single portion porridge I make mine in a mug, 1 third porridge top up with hot water and nuke for 45 secs stir, repeat x2 add sugar type stuff stir bingo leave to cool a little while as will be tres hot

This sounds lovely. Will try adding some spices to mine tomorrow. Not sure if I have any mixed dried fruit left in but if so will add this as well. I go off the packet for my portion size and use milk.
