No. I think the point is that people in this thread keep on giving unhelpful advice. No wonder some people are struggling to lose weight when such bad advice is being given
Well if you feel that the advice here is unhelpful, you won't keep coming back here.
I've lurked on this thread for a long time, and find the support and advice here great. It is a shame to see this thread being derailed by vindictive comments.
Lots of people on here find this thread a great support. It's a shame you don't.
I really hope no newbies to this thread are put off by certain comments.
Right, off by soapbox and back to lurking.:)

I personally think that this is a really supportive and helpful group. I look forward to reading everyones posts everyday and really enjoyed reading peoples losses (however small they were) on Friday and Saturday. 6 stone lost!!! Wow:j
There is a great mix of people here, working mums, runners, gym bunnies, people who struggle with exercise, stay at home people and we all have a common goal - TO LOSE WEIGHT and support each other.
If I do happen to read something on here that I don't believe to be true or I don't agree with I just ignore it (like I would in real life).
So thank you everyone for brightening up my day and showing your support!:T

I didn't say the people here are unsupportive. I'm saying the advice here is shockingly bad. Sometimes people become too nice that they become unhelpful. A teacher who never tells the children what they do wrong is not a good teacher, and the children will never lean - although she is very nice. It's very typical of many weight loss support groups - "Sure, dear, shove that chocolate cake into your mouth. You deserve it!"
All I will say to the people in here is, if you really want to lose the fat, follow my advice here.0 -

But most people on this thread are not looking for advice. They are looking for support, which is a very different thing. You keep offering unsolicited 'advice' but that isn't really what this thread is about. People don't (usually) post their daily food diaries, for example, for others to comment on - they are just posting because writing it down and being accountable can help some people to keep on track. I'm not sure what unhelpful advice you are referring to, as people on here don't really tend to take on an advisory role towards each other.0 -

cshermen and I WILL be having that last fresh cream French slice for my tea
. I've lost almost 3st with the help and support of this forum so of course I deserve it
daisiegg I know that feeling, I'm the same with cheese so I keep it in the freezer and limit my weekly amount.
We can do it without any interference from know-it-alls who probably have a problem with weight because although they're hot on the (carp) advice, they don't have the important part, the support. Sad, but with the wrong attitude what can they expect....?0 -
Going a bit nuts with the comfort/easy food tonight. Having pizza for "lunch" at 4:30 pm... Toad in the hole if we want anything after that. I've also finally had my very first jaffa cake! :rotfl:
The good news is that we walked 2.7 miles to go pick up a new to us vacuum cleaner (yipee!!!) and another 1.1 miles round trip to ALDI. I feel like my legs are going to fall off! :eek:0 -

You can do it!
I've been in the UK for 9 months now, walking more and more as time goes on. Before that I drove everywhere. I'm still at 283.4 pounds at the moment (down from my highest at 296), and I'm completely tired out. I did it though!
The best bit is that the gentleman who gave us the vacuum cleaner ended up giving us a ride back home so we wouldn't have to walk another 2.7 miles back in freezing temps. Nearly made me cry when he offered to bring us home!0
