Thought it might be good to have a Q&A thread for people trying to lose the fat on MSE. To start us off here are some cool motivational pics from people I know:

    I've lost 45lbs or so in the last 3 months (this is a relatively fast weight loss which is generally only safe if you are very active/athletic, or are very overweight - don't compare yourself to it)

    There are already about a dozen threads on these boards about trying to lose weight.

  • One tip I would give people is buy smaller plates! It sounds both simple ans stupid but it really does work!
    Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!? :huh:

    take note of the sugar levels in foods. I've just been to the doc today for my anual MOT and in the past 6 months I've lost 2 stones without dieting. The only changes to my diet that I've made is to cut out anything obviously sugary and take notice of the hidden sugars in foods.

    The amount of diet/low fat foods that contain massive amounts of hidden sugar is horrendous. For years I tried dieting using diet and low fat foods and the weight just didn't come off. Since having to seriously cut out sugar (and curb the carbs slightly though I still do eat bread etc just not quite as often) the weigh has slowly but easily come off.

    I'm a bit evangelical about the sugar issue now :o

    I've found losing weight is not too big a problem, it's maintaining your target weight that I find difficult.

    Perhaps simmed, with some careful planning, you could build yourself a gym in your underground rifle range. Bit of shooting then a few squats, another few head shots followed by some bench presses. A workout even Al Kyeeder and his mates would be proud of.
  • Just eat crisps.

    They come in all sorts of flavours of other foods, but don't take up as much space.
