Thanks Jammy I always stick my scales on the same bathroom tile, so I wish that was it! I moved it over 2 different tiles, no difference!
Savesummore - I wish I had gone for the death by chocolate now, I didn't really have much dessert on holiday. I think after the 5 days, I'd have expected 2lbs, but I've not eaten enough to cause any more gain this week...
Molly41 I know weight can fluctuate a couple of pounds day-to-day, depending on what you did, types of food you ate etc. That's why it's best to weight at the same time, same day each week.
I'm not meant to weigh myself atm, only see how much better my clothes are fitting (or worse atm, I feel like I've ballooned) but I think I will step on next week and hope it's fixed, as I will just self-destruct otherwise!0 -
Oh heck. So I looked up whether antibiotics cause weight gain an found that a lot of people reported it - here's what I found (for anyone else who might be on them in the future, and might get alarmed!):
So it looks like firstly they cause some water retention (probably thirst, because despite drinking 4l a day I'm still parched), and also, because they neutralise the good bacteria in the gut, they stop your body from processing food properly.
Unfortunately someone on myfitnesspal shared a link to an article on antibiotics and weight gain, which is along the lines of 'taking them means you will always be fat'. Harsh. And depressing.0 -
I gained 1lb this week.
I'm gutted
I know where I went wrong. We have been letting our hair down a bit this week. I must get back on track for next week.0 -
Evening All
I lost another lb today but don't need any smiley faces as it's only one of the ones I'd put back on again. I went up to 9st 6 at the weekend and was back to 9st 2 this morning! I shall probably go back up tomorrow as I have had a wanting to eat too much day.
B: Raspberries with Greek yoghurt
L: Muesli. DS rang to say did I want to go play tennis and it was the quickest thing I could grab to eat in the 10 minutes I had. I then had another bowl when I got back!HM egg and chips. I had 2 eggs and one was a double yolker! I also had mushrooms and bread and butter - oh dear. Then a HM chocolate mousse. And then half of DH's KitKat Chunky.
Exercise: 1 hour Pilates. Half an hour of tennis with DS who had me running all over the court. We would have played longer but he had a phone call that meant he had to leave. About 2 miles of walking.

Thanks Ragz x
I have upped my anti inflam drugs and know they make me retain water but I didnt know about antibiotics. I now take a low dose to prevent infection so that might not be helping the weight loss. Of course I have been eating too much for me but I seem to have to go really low calorie wise in order to lose:(
Hey just keep plodding on xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Molly41 I've read some more, and apprarently natural yoghurt (not flavoured) helps replenish the 'friendly' bacteria that you're killing off - or there's a supplement, acidophilus, which you can easily buy (and probably has negligible calories). I already have acidophilus in the house, so I'll start taking that again.0

Morning all !! Some inconsiderate :mad: woke me at 4.30am slamming car doors and loads of noise outside and now I cant get back to sleep.... Oh well, sat here with cup of tea and my laptop.....
minicooper ...are your scales battery operated ? If so have you tried changing the battery. When mine is getting flat they read all sorts of weird weights

Morning
Need to do better today, yesterday meals were fine but snacks consisted of a piece of cake and a mars bar:eek:.
I've got real sugar/chocolate munchies at the moment (whole week) after having none for the previous 7 or 8. Will just have to go cold turkey. So i'll hunt out all the sweet stuff today and give it to my sister tomorrow for her kids.
Today:
B: usual cereal and fruit
L: fish portion (lurking in bottom of freezer) with stir fry veghm pizza and salad
S: fruit and yoghurt (I promise):A
E: gardening and 30 min exercise dvd, and wii.
Hubbie got me zumba for the wii for my b'day weeks ago, so going to give that a go today. Never done it before, Will close the blinds first though as I am sooo uncoordinated and have 2 left feet.
Hope everyone has a sunny daySuccess is a journey, not a destination0 -
Just been to the water park for a brisk 45 min walk with the dog and then on to do the food shopping. Was very restrained - no real naughties bought.
Plan to clean the house from top to bottom and go for a run this afternoon if I still have the energy. Then its a night out at a comedy night but I will have tea before I go and will be driving so there'll be no alcohol calories passing my lips.;)
Just a quickie - Sainsburys have the Covent Garden soups on BOGOF making them 2 for £2 - checked the cals and they are surprisingly good, about 200 ish cals for the whole carton. May be an easy lunch or tea with some bread/toast.0
