Hi guys
I am desperate to lose weight. I have been watching what I eat ie. no chips, chocolate crisps, tea. And I've been at the gym between 12 and 15 hours a week.
I have been doing spinning, body conditioning, resistance, swimming and step.
On the 6th may I weighed 167lb with 36in waist and 15th july it's still the same. I have been on weight lose forums elsewhere and I have been told I am either eating to much and not doing enough exercise! I know I am I track all my food and I never eat over 1300 cal and my exercise depending on what I doing that day ranges between 600 and 1100 cal.
Does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Are you "eating back" the calories you burn in exercise? If not it sounds like you may be depriving your body and forcing it to hang onto everything it can, as on some days your net intake would be only ~200 cals. If you are eating back your cals, check you're not overestimating! How are you tracking your food/exercise? I use myfitnesspal, which is great, butI gather from reading their forums that it may overestimate the exercise calories unless you use a heart rate monitor, so I always aim to eat only 2/3 back.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

Thank you all for the goodlucks. I don't think it went that well - someone was asking something I couldn't seem to answer and he kept on and on - turns out he wanted to know if I intended to do my part time job from their offices, because that was so far from the way I think his 'conflict of interests' questions just made no sense to me. Eventually he was forced to ask outright, but it was 10 minutes of very uncomfortable questioning where i KNEW I wasn't answering what he wanted because he kept changing what he said, but I couldn't work out what I was doing wrong.
Oh well.

We aren't vegetarians, but love it - even the kids love it and they are very picky.
I'd recommend anyone give it a go.0 -

Afternoon All, - Welcome back Vixtress & LavenderBees and  Hello to all the New Starters.
Well I’m also ready to get back on track big-time and concentrate fully on this challenge. After what has seemed like an age getting the place ready, I spent yesterday, along with my brothers, finally clearing out the old family home in readiness for handing over the keys to the new owner. As a farewell to the property which has been in the family for 48years we decided to have a meal, well actually a carpet picnic, to mark the last time we would all be in the house together – so fess-up time - whispers….:shhh:...we had an Indian takeaway, although I think we were very restrained, the portions are always so big so I shared a starter and main course with one of my brothers and only had ¼ of a Naan, ½ a poppadum and 2tblsp of pilau rice along with my curry.
Happily I don’t feel bloated this morning and the scales show that I’m the same weight as WI. Now I can focus on the task of planning out my weekly menus and because I’ve spent so many days away from home this week I desperately need to use up some rather sorry looking asparagus and ripe avocados – ideas anyone – off to check out the Svengali that is the GoodFood website. Then as it’s raining……again….I need to try and sort out my spare bedroom and utility room which are starting to resemble a junk shop.
Today’s plan
B – Poached egg & steamed asparagus on toast
L – French Onion Soup
D – Prawn & Avocado SaladJan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £72.120 -
Just back from the shops and I've bought a new pair of running shoes in the sale. No excuses now - lets hope they're go faster trainers!:rotfl:
Will try them out later.......0 -
Congrats everyone on the fantastic results of the last challenge!
I've been MIA for a few days, haven't had time to check by! I had a staff do Friday, and then went to the big smoke yesterday to spend a day with some friends who are on hols there, and we had a lovely day of being tourists (and eating!). I think when I weighed in on Friday, I had gained 3lbs  after my disasterous comfort eat-athon last week, and it being my heavy time of the month. I'm more scared to step on the scales after the last 2 days, so I won't go near them til Friday...
It's all out of my system now, and this week I'm doing a detox to draw a line under it (my first proper one, has anyone else ever?), I've ordered a new motivational book to give me a boost, and for the next challenge, I would like to target 14lbs, which will make me just 7lbs overweight on BMI. I also have a holiday and a ball in Sept to aim for. I have an old too small bikini and I may buy a new ball dress 1 size smaller as a target for then (I'm all talk really!)0 -

Hi Jaxjax! My first thought is that, as you have suddenly upped your exercise so much, you will have off-set fat loss with gained muscle weight. Previously I've managed to maintain my weight for 6 weeks but still lose 1-2 inches virtually all over. Because of the way my tyres are distributed, my waist is almost thin person size, and so I barely get any change there, I use measuerments from all over - hips, arms, thighs, chest and waist. Take all your measurements as that will be a good indication, or get a pair of trousers that are slightly too small and see how they get looser.
I agree with others, 1300 cals is not enough if you're spending 2 hourse/day at the gym. But you also have to make sure you drink enough water (your body may be retaining water if you don't drink enough), also it's really important to make sure you're getting enough salt. Although too much is dangerous, salt helps hydration, and you lose a lot of the stuff when you sweat. There are theories that in the long run, this helps prevent water retention.0 -
Evening All
I've had a lovely day as we drove over to the Peak District to visit my Mother and sister who are on holiday there. My other sister and her family also went up. It was quite a lot of driving but lovely to see them all. Mum treated us all to lunch out too.
B: Omelette with HG spinach and beetroot leaves, parsley, garlic and cheese which tasted absolutely delicious.
L: Goats cheese tart with roasted peppers, tomato and garlic with a mixed leaf salad and coleslaw. Raspberry lemonade.
Snacks: Handful of pistachio nuts, raspberries with Greek yoghurt, half a bar of dark chocolate.
I may have a small HM chocolate mousse later if I get hungry.
Exercise: Short walk around the village with the family.
