As an aside, are there others who are nervous about going jogging / running because they live in a dodgy area? I really love to run but live in a rougher-than-rough area and one of my friend's OH got mugged on the street next to mine on Friday
I really can't afford a gym membership, but aren't comfortable about exercising outside around here either, how do others cope?
The others will be along soon to give you advice, but some in this group use YouTube exercise videos; also three is Wii or DVDs, so at least you're safe in your house.0 -
Thanks for the replies guys.
I have been using myfitnesspal app on my phone. I have it with me all the time so it works for me.
I think I may be undereating. My exercise has gone from 0-everything it's the way I tend to do things
I was getting upset because before when I used to go to the gym the weight just dropped off but I ate a lot more.
One thing about the exercise I thought the figures were overestimated on MFP but I don't tend to put in my gym sessions because it's too much effortso for me it probably evens out.
So from today I will put everything on here. This week will not be so great I have 2 boys a 2 and 9 year old and this week they both have birthdays. I'll just sniff the cakes :rotfl:0 -
Jax if you're anything like me you only have to sniff cakes to gain a pound...
With the running exercise thing - can you go somewhere by car to do it? Sort of drive to a park and then exercise? Just a thought.
I have a question for all those further down the line than I am - does the being desperately hungry ease off? I get so hungry! I know I shouldn't, I'm eating 'normally' - but to be fair I've eaten gluttonously for so long that I'm still hungry even when I know I've eaten more than most people would do (IYSWIM).
Yesterday I'd eaten breakfast (two weetabix and milk) - lunch (two ham and tomato rolls) a snack (peas and a banana) and I was so hungry by 6 o'clock I felt sick!
Which is ridiculous - my OH had eaten nothing all day and he was fine.
Is it because I'm so used to over-eating do you think? Will it wear off? Or am I doing something terribly wrong?0 -

Hi Seanymph,
I think it will settle down, although that looks like what I would eat in a day and I'm always ravenous for my dinner! I think it's really good to discover your natural hunger pangs though, it shows your system is working properly. Before I started cutting portions etc, I was rarely actually hungry, and I just ate because I felt like it. Once I'd rediscovered my natural hunger reflex I found it easier to moderate my food intake, if you see what I mean? Also, if you don't eat all day you don't start your full/empty cycle, so I'm not surprised your DH wasn't hungry!
If you're one of those people that really suffers from hunger, get some low-calorie snacks in so you can have something to keep you going before tea if you need it. I like a ryvita with a light dairylea triangle and sliced cucmber, or a couple of rich teas (~40cals each) with a glass of milk, or a yoghurt and an apple. Dairy is good for filling you up due to the protein, if you avoid the highest fat options.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Morning all
Meals:
Breakfast: nectarine, yoghurt, glass cranberry juice
Lunch: cheese sandwich, apple, satsumas
Snacks: babybel, plums, granola bar (if needed)
Dinner: probably tortellini with some sort of sauce, got some tomatoes in the veg box so may roast them with a pepper. Ice lolly for pudding
Also aiming to drink at least 2 litres of water today as I think I might be getting a urine infectionhopefully I'll be able to flush it out.

Morning all, and BIG hello's to all the newbies.
Been MIA all weekend, as it was so hectic, but lots of fun.
Overall my food intake over the weekend went better than I thought it would, thou I was over my calorie intake both days. (hm pizza and chocolate cake to blame:eek:) but it was so yummy.
Will just have to make up for it in exercise this week.
Plan for today:
B: all bran, kiwi & mango
L: jacket potato, salad, not sure of filling, fruitHM curry & rice
Snacks will have to be fruit & lf yoghurt
Exercise: 45min dog walking this morning, planning 30 mins more later & 30 min exercise DVD.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Hiya
What are you drinking during the day? - dehydration can be mistaken for hunger pangs. Drink plenty of fluids and see if that makes a difference. If I feel hungry and it isn't time for a meal, then I usually have a cup of fruity tea and the pangs disappear.
Soup also is very filling, I find, so maybe try a hearty vege or lentil (or both!) soup for lunch?
Having said that, there's nothing wrong with feeling hungry by the end of a long day - your body needs replenishing, methinks, and we're all too used these days to eating even when our bodies don't demand it (hence why I'm overweight, in my case), so are unused to feeling hunger pangs.

Yesterday was a strange day. Tried to fit too much into the day so eating went completely haywire. Lunch and dinner were both later than they should be (about 2hours late for lunch and then dinner was about 4 hours later than usual, so an extra 2 hours again after late lunch) so had extra snacks to stave off the hunger but still wolfed down huge portions simply because I was so hungry by mealtime so ended up with loads of extra calories with no real benefit.
Good job that part of the reason things were late was because we were doing more exercise than planned so hopefully that will have offset the extra calories.
Today I'm having:
B - 2 slices hm toast with marg & jam
L - cheese&mayo sandwich, yoghurt, apple
D - pork steak, cauli&broc cheese, mashed spuds
S - none planned. Only one choc brownie left so OH will probably get that.
Exercise - hoping to fit in level 1 shred but not sure I'll have time as I've got a meeting tonight0
