The lady hasnt responded to my first shocked email asking what prize and when was the email sent as I had never received it and asking was there anything she could do to make it so I was reinstated as the winner.

Oh well I'll learn in future, put so much effort into this one, digging out and scanning an old photo and writing a story for coast moments as to why it made me feel special wearing their dress. I do hope they have not used it as i'm not wanting my picture up on their site without a prize to show for it lol

I always do check spam normally but what with xmas and tonne of advents and it not being clear it was a winning email I only saw her email today as it went to inbox and was top of the list. I searched only yesterday for congratulations winner prize winner etc but it doesnt contain any of that

thanks everyone, major shock over and i'm reverting back to normal heart rate :D x

Just to say - if they do attempt to use your entry for publicity purposes, then I would object, as strongly (and as loudly:cool:) as possible! Their T&C probably gives them the right to do so, but I think they have forfeited any moral right

That is a real shame. Do you think that sometimes competition promoters deliberately don't put words like "congratulations" in the subject line, so that we all have to actually read the text of their emails?

Don't know - but they certainly do it the other way round (ie put Congratulations when you haven't won) to make you open it:mad::rotfl:

oh no this is awful, hope you get some kind of compensation. Saying that I once won a case of vitamin bottled water and had 24 hrs to respond. I missed the email, but emailed them back within 48 hrs and got no response. That was a FB comp too. Luckily it was only a case of expensive water drinks lol.

Aw feel so sorry for you. Hopefully if you email them they might be able to sort something out. If not I hope you get a great win very soon to make you feel better.

Ouch! That's horrible. 48 hours is not long enough, especially over Christmas. I would email again - always keeping it polite and friendly and drop in a subtle hint that you've had tons of support for your cause on the MSE website that you use. Perhaps the fear of generating bad publicity might help. Perhaps something like, you've been blogging about this on the site and there is a general consensus that they should take some of the responsibility for not allowing more than 48 hours over the holidays, plus not making the email subject clear that it was a prize winning email. Point out how quickly you responded when the email subject was clear.

If all else fails, you should still pat yourself on the back for having won a writing based comp. Even if you lost the prize, it's still something to be proud of. So I still say 'Well done' to you.

Just on the off-chance that the replacement winner is also on MSE, would you mind letting us know what the winning email subject was, so we can check our Junk Mail?
In the unlikely event that I win, you're more than welcome to one of the dresses :) (I currently only own 1 dress anyway so really wouldn't miss one of them !)

It was Coast Advent - Coast moments and was from a lady(?) named Puja Gokani. Good luck all :) hope its an mse'er x

I just got this as a reponse to my reply:

Firstly I’d like to apologise for any disappointment caused. The subject line in our winner’s emails have generally been the same for all our customers as using terms such as “Congratulations” or “You’ve won!” increases the risk of spam, so we aim to avoid this wherever possible.

I understand that you would not have ignored the initial email if you had seen it however this is why we give a 48 hour time frame for winners to get in touch before we choose an alternative winner. We set terms before any competition goes live and is accessible at all times during the course of a competition. By entering a competition it is bound by the terms set by the Promoter (Coast).

I’d like to apologise for not responding to your previous email sooner and for any inconvenience caused.
