Not needed when his cupboard has a decent padlock :rotfl:.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Evening all hope everyone is well and not too cold in the snow !! No snow day here unfortunately!
It's been an expensive month with lots spent but in the positives have some cinema vouchers free via clubcard and have booked a day out with a Xmas present voucher too ! Also managed to lower both sets of car insurance and breakdown cover ...
Now just to survive with no spending for a few weeks !0 -
Afternoon All
and hope everyone had a happy and chocolate filled Easter!!
There was a lot of :EasterBun going on in our house - though there are still a few eggs left!!!
Have had a surprisingly low spend weekend considering have had lots of social things on!! One night out was almost completely free with only a couple of drinks for Mrtyo bought as he was designated driver (lucky thing!!) so less than a fiver! We were fed yesterday a lovely Easter dinner and having dinner cooked for us tonight too so we are doing well on the free food front!
Still some money oweing to the house fund when we get ourselves a bit more sorted , but its getting there! I have £50 coming which is owed to me by a friend and £125ish from FD accounts which I am hoping will come next week! Some of this will need topping up as it's almost ISA time again!
I have been filling up my coin jar too which is about half full now!:D
Been good at using up cupboards/freezer and have meal planned to the end of April with £431 spent since the beginning of the year!! Not bad at all considering we probably haven't been that careful on spending and I'm ashamed to say there have been a few bits n bobs (probably at least £10 worth ) which have been chucked out along the way due to not planning or "fancying something different for tea"! Still - a good saving nonetheless considering how easy it is to overspend on groceries!
We were going to sort the house out today ready for decorating but Mrtyo is still asleep so I'm just chilling with a cuppa instead0 -
Hi TY, you're doing brilliantly on the grocery spends - it has amazed me how we get sucked in to the habit of food shopping. I know in January and February we spent very little and we've done well since then, but having checked our freezer, I'm banning anything other than bare minimum purchases.

I must have done something wrong as no Easter eggs for me but then again I have still got chocolate left from Christmas plus I didn't buy anyone any either
We need to meal plan, to much stuff going in the food waste bin and we need to tighten our belts the next few months and not waste any pennysMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Thanks Tilly
Yes its scary how much of a pastime food shopping can become and how full our cupboards/freezer can get!! We still have a huge load of stocks left- will be surprised if we need rice/pasta/cereal this year!! but shall use that to hammer down the budget if I get in under £1350 for the year I will be pleased , £1200 would be fab! We eat pretty well out of it to (even mrtyo!) and if anything could cut down/out on buying junk/snacks like crisps/chocolates which would probably save quite a bit too! ...
Hey Radish
Boo on no easter eggswe have a few here I can pop one in the post if you like! may end up a bit squashed/melted tho!
Well done you on still having xmas chocs left over- think mine were gone by um... mid January!
Good luck on meal planning- I do find it helps not be so wasteful, but like I said certainly not perfect there!!
No real other moneymaking schemes up my sleeve! Was thinking about a car boot with some old dvds/books/stuff which probably wont sell for more than a couple of quid on amazon/ebay - not sure the time wise of standing in a field makes it pay off so alternative is charity shop I guess! Any suggestions for making the money go further much appreciated! We are going to be doing some decorating soon and have managed to forage a whole £28 off in vouchers ready for Mrtyo to spend!
Other than that, aiming for a quiet life till payday! :j0 -
Brrrrr its a chilli morning for April!!
In moneysaving news:
* Waiting for ISA and savings interest to come through which should add a few pounds to the house fund!
*£3 to come from amazon trade in for a book that could have gone to charity shop...
*Few vouchers left including credit note for some DIY/house stuff and 2 cinema tickets ....
*Mystery shop next week so £60ish from that!
*Still trying to use up cupboard/freezer contents though had a disaster trying to make thai-style soup yesterday!! It didn't turn out at all how I thought which probably serves me right for not using any kind of recipe!! Don't worry, I made me and MrTyo some yummy pasta for tea instead!
*Figured out should be able to save around £800 per month plus any extra bonuses etc.. towards house fund from this payday!
I get frustrated sometimes thinking I should be saving more, but at the same time we need to have a life (something I need reminding of sometimes!!)
Happy Monday all - just think only 4 more days after today until the weekend!0 -
Morning all!
The sunshine we were promised has finally arrived and its lovely outside!!
Plans for today generally involve a nice roast dinner , though may also do salad as its warm ! Then a trip out that we have had booked as a Xmas pressie so v excited for that too!
Bit overdrawn this month but will be back in credit by next week having claimed all that is owed!
Next plan is get back on healthy eating which is always easier when the sun is out !
Happy Sunday all and enjoy the sunshine all who have it !! X0 -
Morning all!
Hope everyone is well?
This week is definitely one of those weeks I am ready for it to be the weekend!! I am SO tired and still 3 more days to go!! (plus a busy weekend for me so not sure Ill get much of a lie in either!!:eek:)
However, in moneysaving news have paid in a few extra bits to the house fund around £180 from various cheques including a rebate of sorts and also money from mystery shopping!
Also got a couple of freebies - some perfume and some farrow and ball samples (from freebies board on here) not sure what Im gonna do with the wallpaper samples maybe some art and crafts or even frame them as pictures!!
decluttered one bag of old shoes/books to charity shop - not moneysaving, but can see more of the floor in our room now!Have one book which I may put on amazon but apart from that looking sparse on the selling front as we tend to re-watch our dvds/series'
Food shopping still pootling along okay have started May's budget already but think not doing too badly so far- am gonna give Lidl and Aldi a go for the next couple of months to see how much this can cut our spending down... Have enough in the fridge/freezer Id say to do most of this weeks meals tho (Mrtyo cooked a yummy dinner last night which will feed us for lunch and dinner today and possibly also tomorrow!!)
Payday this week and estimate a nice £1200 into the house fund from that .
Waiting for my FD saver to mature next week to so should have about £3700 from that which just needs topping up to go into an ISA - need to have a hunt around for the best rates as the one I have is fixed/locked in so cant add to it this year need to open a new one!
Apart from that no real news/schemes up our sleeves- next expense will be a nice and well deserved holiday later in the year but we work hard the rest of the time so plan to enjoy this guilt free!! :A will need to do less of this :EasterBunand more of this :j:j if I'm hoping to get anywhere near a bikini or swimming costume of any kind!!!:eek::eek:
Have a good day all - its downhill to the weekend after today ...0
