I am feeling much better
But unfortunately poor old Mrtyo has caught my man flu now - poor thing
shall be waiting on him hand and foot until he feels better!!
Got some great food shopping bargains in Mr W and Mr T's enough meat/fish for 30 meals or so I reckon , plus some other bits and bobs for less than £40 , so Id say 50p per meal per person!! Freezer jam packed (thanks to some skilled packing by mrtyo) and lots left out to take to the family tomorrow! now just need to actually eat out of the freezer and cupboards next year!
Only one more sleep to go!! :xmastree: Have a lovely day tomorrow everyone0 -
Happy Christmas to the both of you :beer:Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

Hello all!
Had a lovely :xmastree: and cant believe its over for another year!!
* Have managed some moneysaving in there too! ....kinda!.... bought some presents in the Boots sale - all half price £32 spent for £64 worth of stuff!
*3 CDs and an old broken phone to see if any are sellable!
*Got pension stuff out to look at as apparently have critical illness cover through this and possibly through life ins- will double check Im not paying twice for something!
In other news have been decluttering xmas chocs but making myself go for a run tomorrow morning - promise! :rotfl:0 -
Well I managed the run .... just about...!!! Turns out 10 days of sitting down doing nothing but eating is not all that conducive to keeping fit!!
Looking back at my aims for this year am pleasantly surprised to have managed most of them!!
*Keep grocery spends to £1500 for the year- not actually sure of total spends, could well be higher than £1500 but Id say since September managed to "only" spend £500 (out of an aim of £400) and have heaving cupboards/fridge/freezer!
*Make the most of freebies, vouchers, competitions for "free" stuff -definitely did this! Have had 2/3 free magazines, free chocolate, free coffee, free toothpaste and toothbrushes, quite a lot of free food with vouchers! No competition wins, but cant remember entering many!
*Look into life insurance and car breakdown etc.. to check Im getting the best deals - did this and saved £20 on life insurance and got a good joint deal for breakdown etc for us both.
*any purchases/big purchases check through tcb etc.. before buying. - done! £58.31 for stuff I was gonna do/buy anyway
*Buy some of the presents for next year in the sales! (done already!) this was a huge saving as most presents for the year were half price or better!
*Keep taking in pack lunches to work -have mostly been quite good at this , minus a few slips! Lots of healthy stuff bought to carry this resolution on to next year too!!
We have also between us earned £180 of free fivers from halifax, £200 from bank switches and £167.72 made from amazon sales! So thats £606.03 of free money (including tcb!) .
Also upped my pension contributions to the maximum 6% which employer will match - so "free" money there too!
The grand total we have managed to save/OP between us for the year is : £21,176.69
So pretty Proud!! :T
As its almost New Year - the tradition is obviously to start off with some new Aims!
1) Keep food spends for the year as close to £1200 as possible - will need to be creative and have an eye out for a bargain (and reduce my urge to buy everything any time I think it might be a good deal, only to return home to find nowhere to put it!)
2) Take pack lunches into work more days than not , any lunches out will then feel like more of a "treat" not a daily event!
3) Get fit and eat healthily- there is a wardrobe full of clothes just waiting for me to get into them!
4) Check out cheapest deals for insurance, breakdown etc..
5) Do new SOA to figure out how much we can save next year!0 -
I'm so glad I dropped by TYO, as once again you have inspired me to keep a check on the freebies board - I always forget about this and the competitions board, and although will keep me in bed for a wee bit longer;) I will do this, in honour of you:D
Your planned food budget of £1200 is awesome.....this is one heck of careful planning/spends:T
And I am also the owner of a wardrobe full of clothes that are far too tight, so no more buying clothes until I drop to 'loose' size 12 (although would be ecstatic with the odd size 10)
NP:DFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D
C'mon nattypants:cool:0 -
Glad I have inspired you NP - nice to be inspiring
Hope you enjoyed a cuppa and a browse around the freebies board! Not all the time, but there are often some pretty useful bits and bobs which can save a pound here and there! - always lovely to get something through the post too!
Health and exercise kick going well - went for a 40 minute run this morning and felt pretty good afterwards! Will leave a big wardrobe sort out till the spring I think once all the exercise has taken effect! :rotfl:
In moneysaving news plans for this week are:
1) Look into better mobile contracts, am currently on a sim only plan which gets 300 mins and unlimited txts! Often ends up more expensive than it should between £15-£20 p/month so gonna see if I can better this deal....
2) Read thru pension stuff ( have been putting this off for ages- no more!! :rotfl:) Tomorrow eve with a cuppa methinks!
3) Meal Plan- done till end of January but will need to buy a few bits and bobs, Not sure how well our £1200 goal will work with all the fresh veg etc.. but may pop to aldi /lidl to stock up on veg and meat.
4) [STRIKE]
Set up d/d for car and holiday funds! Reckon for holidays around £1000 p/yr
(including any weekends away) so £83p/m
for Car
Reckon Insurance is : £335
Tax: £132.50
MOT/Service :£250 (fingers crossed!)
Breakdown: £70
£65p/m (£787 p/year)
Also need to figure out Xmas/birthday present spends and
Will do all the adding to figure out some semblance of an SOA at some point
too!
[/STRIKE] Done! Standing orders set up for £65p/m car, £80 p/m holibobs and £35 p/m xmas and birthdays!
5) Hunt for things to sell! Have an old (broken) mobile that I need to charge and erase stuff from but will look into if its worth anything!0 -
I really need to start a car fund TYO, so will join you in setting funds aside also - good plan:TFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

Afternoon all!
Hope everyone is well!
No real moneymaking going on at the minute - just counting the days till payday!!(2 weeks if anyone is interested!)
Aiming for a frugal couple of weeks till then !! Still aiming to use up fridge and freezer food - gonna make up a big salad and some soup for the freezer, plus maybe a cake with the last of the eggs! Aiming to see us through till payday with this , but we shall see!
Mrtyo has done a fab declutter so our house is looking huuuuuge at the moment!
Couple of books/dvds to go on amazon which could bring in some pennies! Have a £12 off £60 mrt's voucher which am debating whether its worth using .... no real space to put stuff I dont think so may give it a miss and wait for the next offer!
Hoping to manage some chilled time with xmas dvds ... which doesnt involve spending any money either!0 -
Evening all

In moneysaving news...
*£11.67 from amazon sales!
