I'd like to join this month please.
I'm going to aim for no more than £5 in MayDebt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Have to declare a pot of creme fraiche that had separated - totally not salvageable. The date on it was only 3 days ago but usually it doesn't go off quite so quickly, bit of a surprise but nevermind. 95p added to the total this month though!
Made some great veg stock at the weekend just using my veg peelings. Also made a lovely sausage stew using LO red wine and bits and peices I'd previously frozen, a genuine LO meal. Am very chuffed!0 -
2slices white bread :-( we were away for the weekend so goodness knows what the boy fed himself (he's the white bread eater in the house)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

I so wish I'd discovered this thread earlier.
This is my first month in the challenge. I honestly thought I didn't throw much food away, and thought a fiver wouldnt be too difficult a target, but I could easily have thrown loads away in the first week if I hadn't joined the challenge.
I've spent most of the weekend working out ways of salvaging fruit, veg, bread, meat and milk - what I can use it in,what can be frozen etc.
I'm working away for a few days from tomorrow, so would normally have just ended up throwing the last few bits in the bin without even giving it a second thought, yet, thanks to this thread, I havent thrown away so much as a single morsel.Debt free since December 2015. It can be done0 -
Lunch was left over party mini quiches with a bit of yesterday's chilli sauce, plate wiped up with bit of pitta bread from office dinner a couple of weeks ago. I asked for a doggy bag
so nothing thrown so far this month and bits eaten that would have been :P

Argh - terrible start to May! OH made a fish pie, but somehow it was horrible. We rescued most of it but there was so much potato leftover and it was all fishy so really not salvageable. About £1 worth gone. Also a bit of rice from a takeaway, they always give you too much rice, but I don't count that as my wastage cos for me it's about my monthly food budget and takeaways are outside of that. Did manage to freeze the lamb from the takeaway though, will be doing a slow-cook lamb stew this weekend so will throw that in. Also rescued (via freezing) black olives and some LO cous cous (made a small amount of fresh stuff and mixed it in for dinner last night).
I've got some egg whites from Sunday, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do with them? I know - meringues - but I'd like other thoughts? And how long can I keep them in the fridge?0 -
One rather withered apple (one of 7 in a bag for 69p at Aldi) and a banana that was fine when I put it in my bag to take to work, but somehow got rather squashed and mushy in transit.
Something in the region of 25pDebt free since December 2015. It can be done0
