Had to throw away one tomato today. Oh the shame ! Chopped up the rest, added to red onions, mince, red pepper, mushrooms, beef stock from yesterday, passata, garlic, herbs, salsa and beans. Nom nom. Serve with bread and lots leftMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

half small tub of reduced pesto reduced to 25p so I guess thats about 12p-might have to chuck the parsnips that are not just bendy but grey, wilted and given up - that will be about 50p then as well.
Apart from those, all going ok.

yes this thread is a great idea. if you have no plans to eat the hummus by the use by then you wont have anything to lose by freezing it. its either that or bin it. if it was me i would freeze but then i freeze anything its got two chances. give it a stir when it defrosts. as i was rummaging in the freezer today i had the misfortune to come across a hm pizza that was broken in bits. it couldnt be salvaged so to my great shame it is in the bin (the recyling one) my council collects food waste and burns it i believe to make compost.Grocery Challenge 24th Feb-28 Dec 2012 £2000/£1404

I've wondered about hummus too - it goes off so quickly, quite often before I can eat it all. I like to use hummus in a flatbread with some lamb so I might freeze some next time and then defrost and mix it in with that.
I had to throw out two limes which had gone off and a bunch of coriander. Estimate around 12p each for the limes and 50p for the coriander. I've already exceeded my £5 limit. Must get better at keeping my eye on things in the fridge!
On the plus side, however, I am freezing a lot of stuff to use later. I froze LO salsa dip ready to put into a spag bol type dish, some LO wine (yes, LO!!), a small bit of milk, bread that's nearing it's end (still fine for the toaster!), I'm cutting up limes and lemons into slices and tray freezing them ready to put in drinks and I'm keeping veg trimmings to make into stock. I've actually bought a new freezer because I'm running out of space in the one I've got!0 -
I like hummus stirred into mash. Or mixed with left over rice and fried. Both would be fine with frozen hummousMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

That sounds really yummy. I feel bad now about all the hummus I've thrown in the bin.0
