Need some help. We go on holiday on Saturday so I'm running down the fridge. I have half a red cabbage from before Xmas, and a cucumber. What can I do with them?

Got goldfish? They LOVE a slice of cucumber :)

Just reporting back to say thanks to Jarus. My banana bread was AWESOME!!

Thanks Katy721 - if you enjoyed the banana bread should should try "delicious weetabix cake" Delicious either with butter or jam. I made it to use up all the broken bits of weetabix at the bottom of the box of my DS choc chip weetabix. I don't know what i si like with normal weetabix, but with the choc weetabix you might need to cut down on the sugar. we all have quite sweet tooths in this house so loved it. I also used preserving sugar which adds a crunchiness to the topping. I am using preserving sugar as I have a mountain of preserving sugar to use having bought it for jam that I didn't make!!

I typed in delicious weetabix cake it is on this website some where. I will see if I can find it again Found the link see below

Its my daughters summer fair on Saturday and I'm making some cakes, I thought I would share this easy peasy recipe for Weetabix cake, its so delicious and so easy to make, you don't even need scales!

    2 crushed Weetabix
    1 cup of sultanas
2 cups of Self raising flour
    1 cup of sugar

Mix these dry ingredients together, then add

1 cup of milk and a teaspoon of mixed spice

Stir again and pour the mix into a greased loaf tin, bake at 325 degrees for about 45 mins.

Its wonderful slightly warm and always with butter/spread.

I am not a lover of fruit cake, never touch them, but this is different, trust me, you MUST make this, even my fussy kids adore it, in fact I have given the recipe out to everyone who has ever tried it!

Hi found the recipe on another thread

    A) How did you discover this?

    B) How many goldfish does it take to eat a whole one? :rotfl:

    (I love this thread!)
  • Hi cat_smith - for the red cabbage, any long slow cooking is good. Last time I had some I used Nigella's Viennese red cabbage recipe: http://racheleats.wordpress.com/2008/12/09/braised-red-cabbage-cooked-in-the-viennese-fashion/

It tasted yummy without the cream added at the end too.

alphabet1.gif How long is a piece of string? A day or two per slice depending on how many goldfish, how big they are, how thick the slice...

Unfortunately not. Only a hairy beast and he is supremely unimpressed.
