Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Xmas Saver!
Whoops.... I have just had confirmation I deff do need to be an active member of this challenge next year...went out in the Sales and came back several pound (in my wallet) lighter. Got a lovely coat in FatFace though reduced from £95 to £60 (though still under consideration) but did pay a silly amount for a very nice (but somewhat overpriced) cardi in Hollister, that wasn't even in the sale! doh!

btw, does anyone know what the refund policy for Gap is in sale items? Bought a pj top to go with some bottoms but the colour isn't quite right. Is it a full refund or credit note only please?

  • Ooh, can I join please for £100!! I have slimmed down to a 14 to 16 (from a 24 at my biggest!) and got a few new bits for crimbo so shouldn't need much!! I am an ebay and charity shop addict anyway!! However can I reserve the right to add another £50 if I can get down to a 12 - Never gonna happen, but the incentive of the extra money may work LOL!!

Will do like you and just track DS with no limit - he starts full time school in september so that is going to cost me!! AT least if I scrimp on me, I should be able to cover him!!

  • Hi, Can you sign me in for £100 please? I got Asos vouchers from hubby for xmas so have just bought some new clothes and, realistically, that should last me for ages. I also get vouchers from doing surveys which I usually use for clothes so they will have to keep my going for the year. Thanks and good luck everyone. xx

  • How are you for hand me downs? My kids get an awful lot handed down because at that age they grow out of their clothes before they get totally wrecked. My son rarely gets any new clothes because he gets so many quality hand me downs.
My daughter only gets uniform from new, and she buys herself the ocassional pretty dress that she likes (using the massive pocket money she gets from granny).
Yes hand me downs would be gratefully received as I pass all my kids things on but we never get any!lol!

Hi all - just sharing a thought with you all regarding my over spending all the time on clothes:

If I round it up to £2000 - which ill be honest, wouldnt be much more than I do spend each year. Over the four years since i left school, I would have £8000 - which is shockingly the same price as the brand new car im perving when i pass my driving test.

    That put me into prospective.

Considering going through my bank statement for the last four years - but i wont because
A: itll be far too time consuming
B: I purchased in asdas etc so i wouldnt know whats not and what was for clothes etc
    C: itd upset me lol.

I am buying some 'stickers' for my diary (sad.. but i love stickers!) and in my 'date planner' section, I am going to put a lovely little sticker everytime I get a 'nsd' - when i achieve a reasonable amount of 'NSD' I am going to have a treat. the amount of stickers required will vary on the treat. For example: My holiday in April, is going to cost me 100 nsd etc, which is the amount I do budget for a work day being around £4 a day, because thats not subsidised. ooo I feel a child again with my stickers!!

I didnt buy lunch at work for two months november/december - and I saved a lot of money.

20 work days a month is £80 - thats NINE HUNDRED AND SIXTY POUNDS PER YEAR

I was putting this into a different account for a xmas party outfit to be 'free' - maybe i should consider continueing with this idea, and only spending on clothes what I would be spending on food at work.

I know its not the right place for all this, but thought id mention it because possibly somebody might like it :)
  • Hi there, can I join too, please? I'm not going to sign up any other members of my household; mostly they earn (or borrow, in the case of our two daft students) their own money so it's kind of not my business any more, but I myself think I can cope on £150. I'd like to say £100, and that's probably being generous to myself as I really don't need anything much, but I may need a new pair of walking boots & it really doesn't do to skimp on them. But the last pair have lasted nearly 20 years, and I do a lot of walking, so I'm looking on them as a good investment.
One thing I'm struggling with is that I don't know what to wear any more! I've reached the time of life when my shape is changing; whatever I do to try to keep my waistline, it seems to have vanished for good. The clothes that always suited me reasonably well just look ridiculous on me now and don't feel comfortable any more; possibly I do need an entire new wardrobe, but even if I cracked, threw everything out & bought a load of new stuff, it'd be from charity/secondhand shops. However I'm reasonably handy with a sewing machine & overlocker so altering/re-making stuff is a possibility.
Hoping that I can come in well under...

    :hello: hola everyone!

I would like to set a target of £300 for 2012 please

I am debating excluding a couple of bits... am going to get going to the gym more (yes... I am) so might exclude some new trainers if mine wear out later in the year, and my lingerie situation is dire so considering also excluding ONE set of bra and knickers, to be bought this month (really can't face the sales though...). After those items, £300 should definitely cover most eventualities! Hmm. Actually, I think I'll just put the trainers on the "excluded-from-the-challenge" list, as I don't want to cut corners with those, too much potential damage. Will inspire me to find a beautifully bargainous bra! :rotfl:
