I'm being really good. Bon Marche has a closing down sale and I didn't go in.

Re new undies. On the underwear front, I buy Primark's 3 for £5 seam - free pants (the 'Bridget Jones' style, other styles are available) and I have yet to bin a pair after several years of wearing them. Though I do have about fifteen pairs... at least. They are similar to Sloggi, but much, much cheaper.

Mcculloch29 - I ordered some from Matalano, they had packs of 5 at 3 for £6, I think 15 pairs of undies will see me through for quite a while. Was hoping to buy a pack in a size down (just in case I do lose the weight) but they were out of stock. I'm a little too large (ok a lot too large) to buy from Primarni at the moment
  • Hi everyone & thanks for caring about lil old me & my interview. It was a day long assessment centre yesterday with presentations and debates and interviews & now my head hurts! I think it went ok - but it's really competitive so we'll see! My suit that I "freed" looked lovely and very smart with a blue stripey shirt under it. I almost felt too smart as the assessors and other members of staff were very casual! I matched the other candidates though!

Have had a splurge in the sales! Arghhhh! Got a new job out of the blue and needed some smart clothes!spent 111 quid on 2 pairs trousers 1 jumper 1 blouse a duffle coat necklace ,pair of pumps and a couple of vest tops! All reduced in T shop. Reduced from 290! I know i,m trying to convince myself here but I thought looking smart might land me more hours and help make a good impression with my new boss! As these are the first work clothes I have ever bought. As I have always had a uniform i,m not going to include them in my ccc budget for this year...is that allowed?

flyingmamma - I had never though to look in TopShop for work clothes. I don't tend to go in because I think it's overpriced and waaaay to trendy. However, I will go in at sale time now!! I think you got a lot of bargains and congrats on the job! Just remember that other things in your wardrobe (cardigans and plain tops) can probably be worn for work - even better, no one in your new job has ever seen these items so you can have lots of freedom days!

Hi I know Im a bit late but I think this one might help me too :) I have 3 kids so our spend is quite big. I have a terrible shoe problem I spend about £300 a year on shoes just for me. This year I have been selling all my ill fitting and unwanted items and downszng my wardrobe so far I have made around £200 on fleabay and charity shopping the rest and have got rid of over 50 items. I have bought a pair of jeans £46 reduced from £105 and a new coat £22.50 instead of £29.99 I paid with them from the sale of a pair of shoes, I also bought DD1 and me new trainers £63 also from flebay income. I have a baby he'll need new clothes very soon. I am going to set a budget of £400 for all of us - not including b'day cash etc

I'm also having a freedom day, got a thick black stretchy tunic from the wardrobe and added a long sleeved T underneath (and my thermal vest but lets not go there...) and a scarf. Haven't had this on in a year or two and feel like a cheshire cat!!:D

bought some knickers from tesco(not in budget as essentials!)they had two identical packs one priced £3 and the other £2.50 so I asked the SA what the difference was....she said the price is £2.50 but think they have a problem with priceing as swimsuits also had two prices but on the same label...the rip off bit on the bottom said £4 but there was also a stick on bit on the same label that was £6!!!!i may be wrong but isn't that illegal?some of the swimsuits had the rip off bit missing...I did not buy as didn't have my size but would have challenged it!Also the swimsuits I ordered from direct .....i have had no contact saying they are instore which they should have been two days ago......could be as I put a home number instead of a mobile?as I only use the mobile for emergencies and have no idea what the number is:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • Well I have a send to declare - apair of peg leg winter grey trousers from New Look in the sale reduced from £24.99 to a pretty neat £5 - not my usual style but DD1 was with me at the time, and sometimes it's good to have someone else's opinion - plus it's my birthday today and so they were my present to myself :).

Had some lovely presents though - a beautiful arty silver necklace, a black and red polka dot chiffon dress & black cardie,a huge cream woolly sleeveless hoodie cardie and leggings and some money from family - the money is going towards a weekend away.

The gifter of the dress and cardie proudly left on the charity tags - it cost them £4.45 for both and they fit like a dream - don't know who was more chuffed - me or them!

Anyway off out for tea with family, wearing said new trousers plus have "freed" black jacket from wardrobe too!

I don't go in there often but before xmas (actually I think it was Oct or Nov) I bought a knitted oatmeal dress - after using a gift card I had and a 20% store card offer (which was promptly cancelled :A) it cost me £17, has so far been worn out in the day, worn out in the evening and worn to work so getting my £17-worth :D

I find the MnS 4 for £5 knickers quite ok (although sometimes the patterns can be a little horrific) tend to wash pretty well and hold their shape - some of mine are starting to look a little sorry for themselves but they're prob well over a year old, if not more
