At least you love all your clothes! And you recognise your problem, its a big start!
I buy clothes because I was always called ugly. Sadly, because of this, I feel even the nicest clothes make me look like a "sack of spuds tied in the middle" (my mums name for me) , so i spend more and more and still don't look any better. I need to spend less but buy things that properly fit and suit me. (When I have had a clean out, which could happen, honest!)
why do mums do that?mine used to call me "dozy rosy" and I HATED it(and i wasn't dozy!!!)I tried so hard with my sons not to be like my mum was with me(so many issues and when i looked after her when she was dying I was convinced she would say sorry ......she never did!!!)
maybe you could book a session with a personal shopper and try things you would not normally buy or get your colours done?I had my colours done years ago and found I was wearing totally the wrong ones, now when I wear turquoise I nearly always get a compliment:)
you owe it to yourself to feel good and I would say in a nice way to your mum please don't call me that as I find it very upsetting, she may have thought it was funny and is now in the habbit of saying it.
hope this helps,good luck:grouphug:0 -

Happy saturday all, I hope all is well in your world.
I am just going through my receipts and have spent a massive £16.99 of my annual clothing budget of £100!!!!
I purchased 4 items from the charity shop - therefore have to find 4 items to leave the wardrobe - reluctantly put an old handbag in the charity shop pile. It would seem that I need to train my brain to associate bringing things in must equate to letting things go.
enjoy the rest of your day y'all

Hi everyone. I've spent my first £2 of the year on a reduced top in Asd@. I had to do it - went out last night and I've gained so much weight that I actually couldn't find anything to wear because nothing fits me any more. So to find a top that will hide the gut and butt for £2 will help. And I desperately need to get back on the wagon.
Isn't it funny how sisters are compared like that? I was always the clever one and my sister the pretty one according to my dad. It really does stick in your head doesn't it?Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
I have a spend to declare
£15 - on some nice leather riding boots from Dorothy perkins. COMPLETE bargain, I was lucky enough to recieve the black ones from Santa at the original price of £70 - so to find these on the website this morning, was a no-brainer as they are so comfortable
Did order a few other bits to get free postage - but i dont think i will be keeping anything else.
Also - i was given £50 compensation from the bank - my balance oweing was £10 - they took £90 - so rang and complained, they told me it would be back by friday it wasnt so i rang and complained. I brought the Monsoon dress iv been loving for a while but couldnt justify - cant declare that though. not 100% its being kept, got to decide if its worth the cost.0 -

Hi Adela,
I think you are so right about our images being defined by our parents view of us.
My lovely Mum only ever had praise for me. She noticed everything about me and would always comment and compliment me on everything.
My Dad was very sarcastic and hard to communicate with, even in his dying days.
As you say its good to recognise the problem, hopefully we can redefine our images for ourselves and not rely on expensive clothes etc to do so

-I agree with you about buying underwear from a charity shop unless it is new and has tags on! But everything else is fair game!
-I managed to get my hands on the Trinny and Suzanna books from a charity shop and either love them or loathe them they are really good for putting you in the right direction for what looks good on your body shape.I have recently come out of wearing trackies all the time and with a little effort in the morning have been complemented quite a bit which makes me feel better about myself
Get all your clothes out and put together some outfits on hangers and sort out jewellery to go with them so that they are ready to put on even on a manically busy morning! Knowing in advance that you have something sorted to wear makes life a little easier! As a parent it is very easy to let a remark slip and I still smart at some of the things that were said to me and so try not to do the same to my kids.
I know what you mean I hate Trinny & Susannah always found them more annoying than anything else but I bought the book in a charity shop for 20p and had a read. What an eye opener!!! After I evenyually managed to figure I was an hourglass I have tried to stick to "the rules " as much as possible and I have cut my spending (just not enough:o). Parents can be off hand with remarks that they don't mean and it is hard but you have to focus on your good points and we all have many of those :DxDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

I also have a spend to declare.
I bought some Toner Trainers, £30 in Costco. I hope will help with my attempts
to lose weight over the coming year.
I normally get a lift to the station and it takes about 5 minutes.
If I walk it takes about 30 minutes! However I can't walk in the vertiginous heels I usually wear.
I wanted shoes I could just slip on without the faff of laces or socks.
My teenage son says I will look ridiculous in elegant work attire with concrete blocks on my feet.
He is right but I hope to overcome my vanity once the weather starts improving.
What is everyone else's opinion on the Excercise shoe with Office wear look, that you often see around the City?0 -

TBH if more people were concerned about their fitness and did as you intend to nobody would bat an eyelid at them. I think once you've done it a few times you won't even care what others think and when the weight stats to come of well ...:AxDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

To me it looks like someone has their work shoes in their bag! Its SO normal to see people dressed sensibly on the commute like that round here that I doubt any eyelids would be batted.
I ended up being in a bit of a rush today when I was in london, so didnt end up shopping (cept the tea from m and s lol bit of bread and a ready meal and I spend £20 )0
