You other naughty people need to calm down and stop talking about sales bargains as you're making my fingers itch and want to go shopping!!!!! Some fab bargains you've had!! I'm actually off to Trafford Centre tonight to meet friends. They were supposed to be coming to ours, but we were burgled on Sunday so I'm feeling a bit down and don't really want to entertain at home. Being down is surely another reason NOT to go to a shopping centre - but am taking the husband who will be trying his best to avoid all shops and go straight to the restaurant and then home!! Although...bargains...surely I should at least look in Monsoon and Dotty Ps...
Sorry to hear about being burgled, what a horrible thing to happen. Fingers crossed for being good tonight xFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

If anybody on MSE asks 'what should I do with this money?', my answer is always 'pay it off the debt', sometimes it's not what people want to hear so I hope my previous response wasn't too heavy handed.
Hi Kerfuffle-nope not heavy handed just sensible!
I have this printed out and stuck in my diary! We don’t need to increase our goods nearly as much as we need to scale down our wants. Not wanting something is as good as possessing it.” - Donald Horban
The other thing I like about shopping in charity shops is that the money you spend is used for a good reason or purpose, rather than lining shareholders pockets, plus the fact I get things that are more or less new for a fraction of the price as I wouldn't be able to afford them new anyway!Win win !

I've put two dresses on ebay so fingers crossed they sell cos if they dont they'll have to go to the charity shop. I nmow have a rather large pile of dresses to go on ebay but very limited funds to pay for postage! Still, they'll all get on eventually! Still havent spent any money on clothes! yay me!Was debt free then ex walked out and COVID hit.0

I would love to be able to spend only £100 but I seem to spend that weekly on clothes which are completely unnecessary.....I convince myself that I need things, despite the fact I Have a whole wardrobe of clothes lying dormant and unloved! My rationale will vary depending on the purchase, I deplore my mindless spending yet dont stop! I do wonder if I am filling a void somewher.....?!0

Bad news - went to buy some much needed socks and there was yet another sale on underwear!! honestly i've spent another £25 of my budget which brings me to 50% gone and its only the 13th of January - just goes to show i never even realised how much i wasted on clothes.
On a different mentioned about recycling white bras - when hers get a bit greyish in colour she dyes them black! so no wastage there.
I am defo staying out of shops for now! as there is just too much temptation.
Liking the idea of selling some stuff on ebay - might help to counteract some of my expenditure
Glad to hear everyone is doing so well here as its very encouraging. I have learnt a lot already!
best wishes, moggy0 -
I've been back at work since Monday so I haven't had any temptation. I've not looked on-line either. When the weather gets warmer I think I'll be more susceptible - my spring/summer wardrobe is not looking good!0

Hi Lula,
I am a bit slow on the uptake so far this year but really really need to get my clothes spending under control, my ebay watched list is ALL clothes for me, and how many suits does one person need for work when she only wears one on an irregular basis for big meetings. Oh and that is not to mention the shoe collection that is growing at a ridiculous rate, not that you can ever have too many shoes but really do i need 8 pairs of black court type shoes for work???:rotfl:
So I would like to pledge a maximum spend of £350 on clothes this year for me and DS, this doesn't include school uniform as i budget a bit every month for this, already DS has had a new pair of trainers so this is already £328, so [STRIKE]£350 [/STRIKE]£328. Hoping that I wont have to use this much but would rather be over than under and fail miserably
Thanks

Hello all!I'm contemplating buying some cheap trainers come payday next week. I've started a get fit challenge with DH and we've started going for walks during lunch. I do find my work boots/shoes a bit uncomfortable for that kind of walking but I do have some trainers at home. I thought though if I kept a pair at work I'd never be able to use the excuse "I've not got my trainers" to go out...0

I nearly bought a shirt in an on line sale today; but then resisted the temptation.:j0
