  • Well I never managed to sort out my undie drawer:naughty: but I did sort out my wardrobes and chest of drawers:T.

So have passed on and CS two huge bin liners of clothes - and now the rest of my clothes can breathe- and I have resorted them into types in the wardrobe so a bit easier to see what I have.

I did keep some bits back to either car boot or ebay -but since most of my stuff is now second hand they are getting to look too worn if you get my drift.:o

Did have wander through CS shops on Friday but even some of those were overcharging (in my oppinion) on some items.

Bring back Jumble Sales -never get them in my area any more as people more likely to car boot, table top or eb8y stuff themselves like me I suppose:rotfl:

Need to report a spend. Had a voucher to use up in M&S so ordered a couple of much needed cardi's and a pair of heels for a dinner dance in a couple of weeks time. So £2 spent (if they fit!)

These items will help me use what is already in the wardrobe and thanks to this challenge it is probably the first time I have pre-planned my spends to maximise what I already have.

More worrying is my urge to go on a charity shop trawl. Have been resisting so far but will probably crack sometime this week. Hopefully I can limit the damage as realistically I don't 'need' anything. Not that that has ever stopped me in the past!

I love jumble sales. When my children were at Senior School - I always helped at the jumble sales - got some great stuff - Grammar Schools so I suppose some of the parents had lots of money - I didn't! I also helped at my Church JS - it is a lot of work for volunteers for not a huge amount of money raised. We spent four hours on the Friday night - setting up and then another four hours on the Saturday. Not many jumble sales around here now though.

  • Am loving this thread, have no further spends to declare but might change next weekend as got my mum visiting, will find something free to do!
Still haven't got round to sorting my wardrobe and given my clothes a sort so can get in on the 'freedom' outfits/ days.

Have found a dress in wardrobe with tags on, tried it on and not sure, its lovely but a bit short & not sure if confident enough to wear, might be going on ebay!

Given my budget this year I think I'll have to start looking at some in this area (think I will target the private schools ones first ;):rotfl:) I never seem to find anything in local charity shops either, and (gosh I sound such a snob here) they all seem to have 'that' smell about them - now I know that after a quick wash that will be sorted but somehow, even though i look, it does kind of put me off. :o

However, I got some more details on The Wardrobe store that opens at the end of the month. They sell on a 50/50 commission basis and the item is yours until they sell it (ie they don't buy from you then sell them) They accept high street to designer but not supermarket or stores like Primark due to the low cost of them new anyway.

Although the 50/50 commision seems a little steep (I guess it depends on the prices they sell for) I can see it being a good thing for items that are too good for car boot sales (I have a dress from Zara still with tags on for example). Although I can see it being a bit of a lure for my budget  (looking out for a Jack Wills hoodie though so fingers crossed!)

Thanks for your comments mishmogs x

Well I ended up taking back the first parka I bought and one of the (two) down coats (the one that cost the most obviously :D)

    Parka #1 £60 - returned
    Down Jackets #1 £75 - returned
    Down Jacket #2 £50 - kept
    Parka #2 £40 - kept
    (all were £90 - £95 originally)

    £135 refund
    £90 spend

But, I'm only counting £30 from my clothes budget since the first one I bought was £60 when I did my sales shopping - if that makes sense ... and doesn't count as cheating? :D

    so £30 / £500

On the up side, I did go into JW but didn't spend :A

  • Could I join in with the challenge too, I would like to set £500 for my budget for the year. I am aiming to lose weight this year and although I have some clothes to slim into I will need to buy some more.

Managed to sort through my chest of drawers and sorted clothes into "can wear whilst pregnant" and "can't even now get my arm in". So turns out I have more than I thought! well tops anyway. I think I will need to buy a pair of black maternity trousers for work, and maybe a few scarfs to brighten up my tops. I have a voucher from xmas for M&S so might have a wee look in there first.

Budget still intact!! (Can't believe it!)
