  • Dug out a red cardi I bought for a wedding last year and wore it with my jeans, so a semi-freedom day for me :) Also rediscovering the joys of my knee high socks- our new central heating isn't anywhere near as efficient and they're very good at helping me stay toasty.

Put some boots with some trousers that I normally only wear in the summer today :D So thats a semi-freedom day. Dont wear them in the winter normally as there tapered paper bag so struggle with footwear, so i put some ankle boots with, and it worked :)

I was in Fiorelli - and nearly brought a bargain bag. Wanted it last year at 80 its now 29.99 - got right up until the till. Questionned the returns policy as i always do, and didnt buy as i dont buy if i cant return for full refund if i change mind.

BROUGHT - some shoes - out of DH money so doesnt count. £8 and a dress £15 out of DH money. £7 of 'free' money left, best make most of it!!

Whats you ladies opinion on this:

I did a couple of returns 'last year' i.e December 29th adding up to £60 - until I decided to do this challange, intended to spend it again when I saw something I prefered:

I dont want to get into the slipper slope of 'its free money' as that ruined me last year. Plus I also have some xmas spending money I saved up for the sales.

Would you - keep it as a 'buffer' over the next year, forget about it and go with just the 2012 money, or class it as 'free'

I dont need the money elsewhere so it doesnt really make a big impact if i did spend it, but it would ruin my target.

What would you lot do my seasoned 'good clothes buyer' friends? :)
  • For getting bobbly bits of jumpers etc - you can buy a clothes shaver in some of the pound shops which is a great help. made some of mine like new! needs batteries though too but a good investment in my opinion. kind regards, moggy
  • I would like to join, i'm afraid to count up how much I spent on clothes and shoes last year.

    I will do £200

Also I will only spend £150 on makeup and toiletries which right now is way out of control. :o

Ooo it is now only £8 i have spent, that £15 is going straight back its really odd shaped on
  • Evening All:)

Sorry had little chance past few days to catch up on posts etc - just trying to sort out budgets for 2012 and other fun stuff:rotfl:

Lula, please would you be so kind and put me down for £100 ? - Many thanks.

I know that I have come under the £100 target we set last year at spending only £35 but I feel comfortable at that - I could make it lower but you never know what is around that corner.

I too, have lost weight; only by 8lbs but I am damned if I have to buy a new lot of clothes so have been taking in trousers, shifting buttons and sticking holes in belts- will keep doing this until one of my family says I look like a sack of spuds then I will have to do something about it but if I do it will be freegle first then CS.

Well at the moment I have no big events this year to attend,no christenings, weddings, charity balls but if there are I am definately shopping in my boutique (wardrobe) first - in fact I think I have have to a major overhaul of all the clothes I have as I was really lucky to be handed over so many from friends & family so maybe I should do a big sort out first.

Get rid of those I know I would never wear, and those I have not worn in two years ( but not my printed shirt I bought as an art student in London 26 odd years ago:eek: and yes I have worn it since)

Anyway good luck to all - and many thanks to all & especially to Lula who keep us on the straight and narrow - you are all amazing!

This is definitely something I need to join as I have far too many clothes and probably don't need to buy anything for 10 years (if styles didn't change) :o the only problem I really envisage is the Next sale. Please could you add me with a budget of £300?

I look forward to following everyone's progress :)

Am going out today to the A*idas outlet shop to look at trainers as I have decided as one of my New Year Challenges to take up running and enter my first 5k race. Apparently they are good prices atm and my only other trainers that I use for zumba and gym are practically vintage and totally unsuitable. So this may be my first spend of the year but hopefully my only spend of the month :o.

I have been looking at sewing patterns online today for the perfect straight forward skirt pattern as I have various bits of vintage fabric to make me some "new" skirts and can't quite decide which one to go for. I want it to be simple so I can make it with quite patterned fabric that I can wear with just a plain top. I was also checking out amazon looking at books and now I'm totally confuzzled as to what to go for.:o

On the plus side I have finally got round to shortening my new cord trousers I bought in the sale last year that fit me perfectly.

Later on I may dig out my bag of clothes I have put aside for the CS and see if there is anything I can alter or make into something else ( did this ages ago so can't remember what's in it!!).

Today I shall be wearing my favourite little green festival dress that I haven't been able to wear for 2 years but can fit into again:T. It makes me soo happy and reminds me of summer festivals. I bought it for £2 at a CBS after loving it in the shops and refusing to buy myself it at full price. I have worn it absolutely loads and will wear it with black opaques, my big chunky lace up boots (also £2 BNWT from CB) and a cardi with folky embroidery on I bought in sale before xmas.
