Definately fake fake! I can spot them a mile away, as he very well knows! why on earth he would think I would want something I dislike intensely in the shape of something I NEVER wear - I have absolutely NO idea!
I am considering having my revenge on him next year - I might buy him a flash gold medallion, a single earring and a 'Del Boy' type bracelet - and as he wears NO jewellery at all (not even a wedding ring) do you think he would get the message?0 -

I understand totally!
I'm not hard to buy for and I'm easily pleased. My husband is a standing joke to my friends, his presents aren't just bad they are horrendous.
I used to get a box of Thortons until I lost my temper and told him I didn't like them and what kind of thought went into buying a box of chocolates?
I then asked him to get my the lush bubble bath bars. He uses them when I get them I thought he'd know, 1st year he said he couldn't find the shop. (Directions were given, it was a few doors down from Rackhams, not tucked away.)
2nd year he brought me 50.00 worth of soap! The THIRD time he did this I flipped and had a paddy,:o no one needs 50.00 worth of soap, esp when they have been told repeatedly the only thing I like is the bubble bath.
I should have given up when I asked him to get my engagement ring remounted, after 20 odd years it was looking a little battered. He had it done and made it look like the cheapest ring imaginable. He even got an illusion setting, the diamond was big enough! I didn't need it too look like a chip. After a year of wearing it I got it reset myself.
This was the man tho who brought me a huge Mr T belcher necklace, one of my friends thought it was fake 'cos it was so big. It used to burn my neck when I got things out of the oven. I pretended to like that 'cos he had tried, so the year later I got a matching bracelet.
He has no taste or more importantly, interest. :rotfl:But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more0 -
yes victory - I understand totally - but its different when you are broke isnt it? Ive been there the year he was on strike, I bought him some badly needed new trainers (not expensive but servicable) and he KNEW my hairdryer was broken and I had asked him get one for me and as they were about the same price as the ruddy knife.............words would have failed me if it wasnt for knowing a LOT of very BAD words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hun, I wish I could wave a magic wand and produce your hearts desire for you - if anyone deserves it YOU do! Put that money your DS2 gave you back into a fund for it. and I would bet anything that your luck will start to change soon! and you will find lots of pennies and pounds to add to it! or look on freecycle and see if someone is giving one away as an 'unwanted Xmas gift'!0 -
I never, never buy a present for the OH.
We go out after the event and when she picks something she likes, I buy it.
If I bought her Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds it would be "Is that the only colour they had." or "They didnt have it in a different size did they"I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
If this was my OH he would definitely be getting cups of cold coffee to go with the cold shoulder for the next few days...or weeks maybe. :rotfl:
Meritaten, if you don't wear the [STRIKE]tat[/STRIKE] pearls from last year then perhaps he thought you've lost them, were embarrassed to say and he wanted to replace them for you?
It's the only reason I can think of for him messing up again.
I was really pleased with my OH this year - he bought me a cashmere jumper in just the colour and style that I like, AND it was the right size!
He's never bought any of his partners items of clothing - not even his 1st wife - so I feel well happy this Christmas.Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.0 -
I send my OH a link to what I want, 3 weeks before I need it. Job done.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

awwww thats lovely! so pleased for you doodoot!
no - he doesnt think Ive lost them - the twit doesnt think!
unfortunately, I have now come to the conclusion that he takes my polite acceptance of his offerings as an indication that I actually like them! when I normally go overboard with a gift that I really like!
I have lost all hope that the man will EVER understand me or my likes and dislikes (we only got married in 1977 and obviously I havent given him enough time to get to know me)!0
